Very true. Brandon Sanderson last books was the truth and imo redeemed the series. There's so much in those books that it's impossible to remember everything.

I haveHave some of yall here read all 14 books?
TWOT & LOTR are more similar but the antagonist are better in TWOT. ASOIAF is a gritty series with fucking and over the top cussing. TWOT is an easier but long read. LOTR is the best of the 3. If Patrick Rothuss gets off his ass I would also recommend The King Killer Chronicles. Jim Butcher's Dresden Files is a must read for the best Urban Fantasy series. How would you compare it to LOTR and ASOIAF?
Thought episode 4 is was super solid. Good combination of exposition and action. Like that they are giving Logain a back story and some reason for his actions
A bit nit picky since none of these characters were people of color in the original source material. However it should continue to be monitored in case it becomes more of a pattern.* Dark skinned black male character ties a white woman to a stake and sets her on fire. After he cuts her hands off
* The Only dark skinned black male servant (i think you call them that) to the women is gay
* The Only dark skinned black female sorceress, who I was starting to like ..well
I agreeI guess people just aren't really feeling the show. IT's a shame because episode 5 and 6 really got into some of the strengths of the world the author created. Lots of intrigue and political maneuvering.
It's gotten better as the season has gone on for sure. Only question is how many people were out after Episode 1 or 2.I guess people just aren't really feeling the show. Thanks for the update. I will check it out tonight.Episode 7 was all over the place. The Tigraine/Ran origin sequence at the beginning was dope. The Lan backstory reveal was well done. Everything else was a mess.
This Rand/Perrin/Egwene love triangle was not in the books and the fact that Perrin was married in the show and not in the books makes it even more pointless. Lan and Nynaeve don't hook up until much much later, but at least they've been laying a foundation for it in the show. And of course Rand and Egwene never really hook up in the books although Rand has 3 bitches by the end of the books but none of them is Egwene
They were going for UPN level stuff here with all the emotional drama between the leads. I just don't know what part of the audience that satisfies?
Finally, revealing Rand as the true Dragon although inevitable feels a bit clunky given that they played up all the other leads as candidates through out the season. It took introducing a clarivoyant character to confirm it rather than him realizing through his own by his unconscious use of powers.
Setup for Episode 8 should be good. First battle between the protagonist and and the primary antagonists.

Yep. The wifey bought me hardcover of Small Favor and Turn Coat. The audio books goes hand too. Spike from Buffy is the narrator.Extremely, underrated series....imo
For whatever reason,it doesnt get mentioned like LoTR,ASOIAF and etc.
I just brought the first six books of the series along with his Codex Alera series book that I never read.
They've definitely took liberties with some stuff from the books. Even in the books Rand unconsciously uses his powers but doesn't realize until he's at the eye that he can channel. Matter of fact the way that they teased Mat as the Dragon was based on something that happened to Rand in the book. And we both know that the clarivoyant character will have a much bigger role moving forward. The thing with Maichin Shin in the Ways and Rand that was dumb.Episode 7 was all over the place. Me too. I hope Netflix or HBO max pick it up. The shit he did to the Red Court Vampires needs to be captured in all of its glory.I wish I could find the hardcover for the earlier books though. They are hard ass fuck to find and when I do they're extremely expensive. I only got the hardcover books to the last two books which was released in 2020. I haven't read them though.
There was a rumor that there's a TV series in the works. I hope so because the original series didnt do the books justice even though Im one of the few people that enjoyed it.

I think he is referring to the Dresden series by Jim Butcher. I agree that it is underrated, but I think that's because the books are largely stand-alone. There are a few arcs that span books, but they are largely self contained. What are you talking about Wheel of time is one of the most highly regarded series in fantasy. The only criticism I ever see why it doesn't get recommended to new readers is because there are so many books.
yeah, Dresden is MADE for TV, but you've got to put a decent budget behind it. that was the main problem with the first attempt. Sci Fi channel can't do this. There was a rumor that there's a TV series in the works. Cool. It's on my list. Is it a long read? When I started reading the series I was like....FUCK...he stole my idea for the different kind of vampires..lol...Im still gonna use it for my book though..lol
You're right what he did to the Red Court though....lol
You should read the first book of the Cinder Spires series he has now. It's a steampunk series. Im waiting for the second book to come out.
Nah bruh, he built an entire universe with tons of story arcs and memorable characters.I think he is referring to the Dresden series by Jim Butcher. Dresden Files goes hard. When the Knights of the cross are introduced you won't be able to put it down. One of them is a black Russian name Sonja. Thanks for the recommendation on the Dresden series. Im going to check that out next. Currently rereading the WOT series. Its funny, I read these books near 20 years ago and they still go hard af to me. I think there was one or two later in the series that were just kinda long winded but other than that a very very enjoyable read. I tell ppl when they first start reading the Eye of the World that they have to get to chapter five...once that happens that shit is on and popping. Interested to see how all of this translates on the show. Some things seem very rushed and of course they have added a lot of letter ppl aspects that werent in the book. But its still cool to see some of the things read come to life on the show.
Good looking out. That already sounds pretty dope! I just downloaded all of them now. Im finishing up the Great Hunt (WOT) now so Ill start on the first book of the DF after that.Dresden Files goes hard. When the Knights of the cross are introduced you won't be able to put it down. Salute fam. Jim Butcher and Brandon Sanderson are writing beasts. Everything they write is pure gold. Both of my boys and all of my nephews have been devouring their books.I even have a side chick reading the Dresden Files.I was talking about the Dresden Files being underrated as a book series.
All,the books are connected but Jim doesn't over do it.
I was on Jim's forum,a few hours ago and someone mentioned he's writing the second book to the Cinder Spires and the next Dresden Files book at the same time. The person said Jim wants to be in the Dresden mode until the series is over. Really, after the apocalyptic series is over. He has eight books left plus the apocalyptic series.
He's been mentioning about the apocalyptic trilogy for years and I've been wondering what the hell cause the world to be in the apocalypse in the Dresden universe...lol
