Secret Service doesn't have to listen to the president. They're tasked with protecting him, so if they deem a situation dangerous, regardless of whether the president thinks it isn't, they'll act to protect.
that's kinda my point

the magabots will have armed police in front of them and secret service behind them
i can only envision the SS going against the police if trump was pres. and a coup broke out

Local police don't have the type of weaponry the SS has. They walk around with their little pistols but they have big ugly shit in that trunk, and the goddamn federal government behind them that spends billions on weapons.

I hope they die for a guy that wouldn't send a gas station bouquet of flowers to the family for a funeral. I've seen way too many people go to jail or get killed for dumb ass reasons, so I'm completely desensitized to that.

The extreme MAGA Republican House Freedom Caucus has made their priorities clear: imposing devastating cuts to public safety and increasing costs for working- and middle-class families, all to protect and extend tax breaks skewed to the wealthy and big corporations. In fact, their tax cuts would be so expensive that their deep and harmful cuts would not reduce the deficit.

Four Oath Keepers members found guilty of obstruction in the far-right group's third Jan. 6 trial

The third set of Oath Keepers to go on trial were not facing seditious conspiracy charges like the first two groups.

WASHINGTON — Four members of the Oath Keepers were convicted of conspiring to obstruct an official proceeding in connection with the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol on Monday, as a judge ordered jurors to continue deliberating over the most serious counts against two additional defendants.

Sandra Parker, Laura Steele, Connie Meggs and William Isaacs were found guilty of conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding. The jury found Michael Greene, another member of the Oath Keepers, not guilty of conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding but was still debating whether he was guilty of aiding or abetting the obstruction of an official proceeding. Bennie Parker was found not guilty of aiding or abetting, but the jury was still deliberating over the charge of conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding.

All six members of the far-right group were found guilty of the charge of entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds. Both Parker and Greene may ultimately be convicted of only that charge.

It was the third group of Oath Keepers members to go to trial for their actions on Jan. 6, 2021, but these defendants did not face the more serious and seldom-used charge of seditious conspiracy that those in the first two groups faced.

Parker, Steele, Meggs and Isaacs were alleged to have entered the Capitol, while Greene and Parker were not.

Jurors began their first full day of deliberations on March 13.

Greene testified at the trial that the Oath Keepers were like old men talking trash at the barbershop. Pressed about that comparison, Greene said two of the men he was charged with were “old as s---.”

Nine other members of the Oath Keepers have been tried in relation to Jan. 6. Five of them — Stewart Rhodes, Kelly Meggs, Jessica Watkins, Kenneth Harrelson and Thomas Caldwell — were found guilty in November of a charge of obstruction of an official proceeding. Two of them, Oath Keepers founder Rhodes and Meggs, were also found guilty of seditious conspiracy.

In the second trial, which ended in January, all four defendants — Roberto Minuta, Joseph Hackett, David Moerschel and Edward Vallejo — were found guilty of seditious conspiracy, bringing the total number of Jan. 6 defendants found guilty of that charge at trial to six.

Five other members of the Proud Boys are on trial accused of seditious conspiracy, as well; that trial is expected to go on for several more weeks.

More than two years after the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, the FBI has arrested about 1,000 people in connection with the breach. And new arrests continue to be made; this month, the list of arrestees included Larry Giberson, a senior at Princeton University who is accused of joining the violent mob inside the tunnel on the west side of the Capitol on Jan. 6 and urging other rioters to drag police officers out.

As NBC News has reported, the FBI has the names of hundreds of additional people who entered the U.S Capitol on Jan. 6, as well as the names of more than 100 people who are listed on the FBI's Capitol Violence page.

Trump supporters outnumbered in New York as few take up Trump’s call to ‘PROTEST’

'I wish more people had shown up,' one of Trump's supporters said

NYPD Officers positioned around NY Federal Courthouse

Former President Donald Trump's supporters are far outnumbered in New York City ahead of his potential arrest Wednesday, despite the Republican's call for his voters to "PROTEST, PROTEST, PROTEST."

Demonstrators cheering on the potential indictment against Trump gathered outside the offices of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, drowning out the handful of protesters there supporting the former president, according to Politico. The grand jury is set to meet again Wednesday.

"I wish more people had shown up," Trump supporter Philippe Lejeune told the outlet.

Law enforcement sources say an indictment against Trump was unlikely to come down on Tuesday, however, saying it wouldn't come until Wednesday at the earliest. If Trump is truly indicted it may galvanize more of his supporters to protest.

The NYPD prepared for potential widespread protests on Tuesday, but they never arrived.

Out of an abundance of caution, the NYPD ordered all 36,000 of its officers to be in uniform and on standby in anticipation of Trump's potential arrest Tuesday. U.S. Capitol Police also erected barricades and called for more manpower ahead of the potential indictment, but few protesters showed up and Trump remains unmolested.

The USCP clarified on Monday that it is not aware of any specific threat against the Capitol, but is making preparations out of an abundance of caution.

Several law enforcement groups were scheduled to meet at noon on Monday at NYPD headquarters in Manhattan to discuss the logistics of a potential indictment against Trump. The NYPD hosted the meeting, and attendees included Michael Magliano, chief of the Department of Public Safety, which oversees New York court officers, the head of the Secret Service's New York office, and a representative from the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.

Trump would be the first former president in U.S. history to face criminal charges if Bragg's office levels them. The potential indictment is expected to allege campaign finance infractions relating to records keeping, what some call a slim pretext for such a high-profile case.

U.S. Capitol Police prepared for potential protests surrounding Trump's arrest.

Some Democrats fear that the potential charges are not up to the task and could backfire, making it harder for allegations to stick relating to the other two investigations into Trump.

Bragg's investigation is just one of three Trump is facing, and the charges stemming from it may be the easiest ones for Trump to defeat. A failed prosecution of the former president – whose opponents have long dreamed of locking him up – could only serve to bolster his common refrain that he is the victim of a "witch hunt."

Federal prosecutors reveal Proud Boys witness was informant

WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal prosecutors disclosed Wednesday that a witness expected to testify for the defense at the seditious conspiracy trial of former Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio and four associates was secretly acting as a government informant for nearly two years after the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, a defense lawyer said in a court filing.
