Getting somebody to cover $90 million is one thing, but getting someone to cover $464 million is a whole different thing entirely

I guess the insurance company looks at it like this. They make interest while the case is being appeal at the very least if he wins.

In the event he loses the appeal they make interest and whatever he puts up as collateral in the event he defaults on paying the appeal.

Hope they got that contract ironclad. Old Donny is known for not paying up when it’s due.

As for the 464M and counting that case is a lot tricker for him. One the surface It seems that case is more solid than the Carrol one.

Jailed Jan. 6 felon who ‘lit the match’ at Capitol wants out of 7 year sentence as other rioters’ penalties hang in the balance

After Guy Reffitt was convicted of storming the Capitol on Jan. 6 while carrying a loaded firearm, he was sentenced to just over 7 years in prison. But now the Texas militia member wants to be released pending appeal and argues a controversial ruling involving a former Air Force officer turned rioter supports his claim.

FDNY boss hunts down staffers who booed NY AG Letitia James, cheered for Trump at promotion ceremony

Moms for Liberty Is Slowly Imploding, and That’s Bad for MAGA in 2024

With Moms for Liberty co-founder Bridget Ziegler embroiled in scandal, the group is now on the defensive—and that will hurt Republicans in this fall’s elections.

Moms for Liberty has fallen on hard times. Membership is dwindling in some precincts, and its school board candidates are on a losing streak. Co-founder Bridget Ziegler is embroiled in a sex scandal involving her husband, former Florida GOP Chair Christian Ziegler, and parents are running brutal ads attacking her. We chatted with journalist Jennifer Berkshire, the author of a forthcoming book on battles over education, who explains the bigger story here: The right is now on the defensive in the culture wars.

Revealed: US conservative thinktank’s links to extremist fraternal order

Claremont Institute officials closely involved with Society for American Civic Renewal, which experts say is rooted in Christian nationalism

The revelations emerge from documents gathered in public records requests, including emails between several senior members of SACR: Claremont president Ryan P Williams; its director of state coalitions and Boise State University professor Scott Yenor; and others including former soap manufacturer and would-be “warlord” Charles Haywood.

The trove also contains an “internal” SACR “mission statement” with a far more radical edge than the public “vision” now recorded on the organization’s website.

That document speaks of recruiting a “brotherhood” who will “form the backbone of a renewed American regime” and who “understand the nature of authority and its legitimate forceful exercise”; whose “objectives” include to “collect, curate, and document a list of potential appointees and hires for a renewed American regime”.

The document does not indicate that such “renewal” will take place through participation in electoral contests, and nor does it make mention of the US constitution.

Prosecutors: A ‘network’ of supporters helped fugitives avoid capture after Capitol riot

A federal judge on Thursday ordered Thomas Paul Osborne to be released from a Florida jail while he awaits trial on charges that he grabbed a police officer’s baton during a mob’s attack on the Capitol. Before the judge ruled, a Justice Department prosecutor argued that Osborne poses a risk of fleeing after his Feb. 22 arrest. Osborne harbored a Jan. 6 defendant, Christopher Worrell, who disappeared last year after he was convicted of assaulting police with pepper spray during the Capitol riot, prosecutors said. They believe Worrell, a member of the Proud Boys extremist group, lived at Osborne’s home in Lakeland, Florida, for roughly six weeks while on the run.
