Had to be, although I'm surprised it was so sudden.
Fox took a lot of damage from that trial and IMO have opened themselves up to litigation moving forward now that people have seen a successful suit against them.
Moving forward Tucker is a liability for Fox and Fox is a liability to his "brand."

Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday April 21st. Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named.

They let him go because he was speaking too much truth. Having guest like RFK Jr. Who question the covid lockdowns. And others who question the deep state's agenda such as the Ukraine war ect.
