shout out to Daughter Maitland...

seems this season is a one shot mini series...

surprisingly high level of casting

civil war / runaway prelude is weak

everything after plays to Taylor's strengths in writing

pretty good

Ok thank you

Those were the words i have been searching for

Checked out the first 2 episodes.

Fans of City on a Hill may recognize "Siobhan", and Godfather of Harlem's "Margaret" amongst the casting selections.

Sheridan writing style at this point is kinda formulaic but I don't care. Cause the journey is always fun as hell. And he is so prolific and he can flip genres.

That's mind-blowing

yeah man I'm glad hes getting the proper recognition now...when he came on my radar a few years ago I started checking for anything he was attached to as a Screenwriter...wind river, hell or high water, Sicario, those who wish me dead..and eventually yellowstone.
Hes been so prolific that his work is ubiquitous and easily recognizable but it's still dope

Loving this Bass Reeves series so far...I had all types of conflicts within myself while watching the first episode concerning: him fighting for the wrong side in the civil war, Oyewelo playing Bass Reeves and imagining certain people expressing outrage at this Non Fba brotha bucking his eyes all scared in the first episode...lol thankfully that was a very brief section of the story that wasnt drawn out..

looking forward to watching the whole series

Lawmen: Bass Reeves
Season One
Episodes 1 - 3

I watched these 3 this morning.

First, the series goes more in-depth on Bass than what has been depicted in previous projects.

The series starts out with him as a slave, followed by him escaping and headed up north into the Oklahoma territory where he settles.

He returns to Texas after he finds out the Civil War ended looking for his wife and eventually finds her and the daughter he did not know.

He is depicted as a man of honor and respect with high morals which helps him get awarded a Deputy US Marshall.

The series just like “1883” gives a decent portrayal of what life was back during this time and how hard and rough it was for everyone regardless of race. Especially west of the Mississippi in the territories.

There are 8 episodes total for the season, gonna let a few stack up then catch up.

This Oleyowu dude has all historical black men roles locked tf up! Damn

Can another brother eat?! They gonna reanimate this nigga when he passes so he can play himself in his own biopic smh.

Chadwick Boseman was getting the premiere lead Black roles until he passed if you remember.

Chadwick probably would have gotten the lead in this series if he was still here, depending on what his schedule would have been.

The series is good but I just don't connect with the lead.

Nothing against his acting or commitment to the character

I just don't SEE IT.

And even though Chadwick (RIP) would have Bern great? Even him I don't know if I would have been convinced. But it wouldn't be as challenging for me as it is now.
