Got caught up on a few episodes of Hacks in recent days. Enjoyed the cameo / guest star appearances during the 2nd half of the season.


I thought Deborah's sister was played really well. Especially with her body language.


Also, I don't really care for co-star Hannah Einbinder as "Ava". She often comes across as a know-it-all or the 20-something "smartest person in the room". It's obnoxious really, which is the character and all, but when she tones it down and is more go with the flow, or calmly serious with Deborah, she's better. Some of the funniest stuff at the college campus was her making small talk with some of the male and female students and them quickly shooting her down with "I've got a girlfriend" as if she was flirting, but she was just trying to be a cool kid and fit in / act younger.

Love her portrayal of Ava. She is has become so fully formed. I know her now. Everything you hate about her is deliberately done. And that actress fully commits.

Agreed. They have crafted the character arcs well. Apparently the writers have a 5-season goal for the run of the series.

I wonder why people find it so difficult to admit they were wrong

There has been a long running narrative that dropping an entire season of a series is a kiss of death and a sign that its bad and it is destined to fail...

Yet there has been a STRING of instances that has proven this idea to be wrong.

But nevertheless they KEEP saying it.

Fallout Blue Eyed Samurai The Diplomat Bad Reindeer etc etc etc have all been huge hits or critical successes or record breakers and already gotten renewals.

I am not saying that perhaps if they WERE weekly releases that hey would not have been as successful but its hard to believe they would have been MORE so.

They should have stopped netflix its too late now. With the amount of content dropping I cant wait weekly.
The show has to be on a certain level like the boys for me to be interested.

There is no answer thats facts.
And like I said it depends on what show. But besides Mando I havent seen any star wars show. U can add marvel too. But thats mostly cause of the quality of the product.

Grown-ish had its series finale last Wednesday (5/22/24) and with that the "-Ish" family of shows comes to a close.

In my opinion, it was the strongest of the "Ish" family of shows, small touches of A Different World are there but keep in mind, this is a DIFFERENT show from A Different World and is not on the same level as A Different World.

The finally wrapped up nicely, and gave good closure to the characters.

The show is also very bingable as the episodes are generally only about 20-24 minutes long.
