Terminator Zero
2024

8/10

This series debuted this past August. I started watching it this past weekend on the road and finished it tonight on the road.

I looked into it and this series is canon. It follows the timeline/events of the first 2 Terminator films. The film also will give you a different perspective of all the films that have debuted in the franchise. I won’t spoil it, but it’s made clear when you watch it.

The series is 8 episodes that run between 25 to 28 minutes. The first 4 episodes are a slow burn heavy with character introduction/development along with story development. After that the series kicks up the pace until the finale.

There are supposed to be plans to reboot the Terminator franchise at some point. It’s possible this series might be the tie-in to connect the older films with the new projects in the future. So there is a good chance you are gonna have to watch this series.

The animation is clean/clear. A number of well known American actors provide voices. Not much on action, but enough to keep you interested.

I looked into it and as of this writing, Netflix has not approved a season 2. The creator has stated he has plans for 5/6 seasons. The series does have a finale with a small cliffhanger that could play in other projects if a season 2 is not approved.

Synopsis

In Japan, Malcom Lee has been developing another AI system that is intended to compete with SkyNet. As Judgement Day approaches in 1997, Lee finds himself and his three children pursued by an unknown robot assassin.

Finished How to Die Alone yesterday, and can definitely recommend it. More stuff works in the series than doesn't. It does a good job balancing some of the lighthearted interactions with the more dramatic or serious. As a viewer you appreciate people being honest with each other in certain key moments. The series aired in September, and hopefully it will be renewed for a 2nd run.

Fave episode was #5 which focused on a Thanksgiving family dinner.

Been enjoying season 2 of Shrinking. It picked up well after season 1, and they're at the midway point of this sophomore run.

The characters are now familiar, so you know what to expect out of certain interactions.

What I like seeing the most is the continued processing of grief, forgiveness, friendship dynamics, PTSD, anger management, declining health (dementia), etc. It's a unique show in that in (for example) in episode 5 ... you'll get a genuinely funny exchange with Harrison Ford and his ex-wife (good comedic timing from him), followed shortly thereafter with a serious, but pleasant, talk between the two of them.

Or Jason Segel being cussed out by the neighbor ... when you know there's a legit, long-time friendship there.

My only minor gripe with the show is that it doesn't linger too long with certain more serious scenes. They would be even more impactful if they slowed down a bit with the pacing. And it's worth paying attention to with the writing, as if you're distracted you might miss some of the funny body language and throwaway comedic lines as well.

Talk about starting with a bang. I was immediately pulled back into this world of CIA operatives as the tension and action is off the charts intense . Joe is still trying to find balance between her family life and her deadly job and it's what grounds this series and also makes it ultra involving

Damn ... sounds like they're wildin' out in primetime on ABC, lol.

Looks like a number of The Day of the Jackal episodes are now available online, as it has already commenced airing overseas.

Not quite sure what the rollout is in North America ... but I believe it's next week in the U.S. and Canada via Peacock and Showcase respectively.

As for the rollout schedule though ... looks like they are doing 5 episodes right off the bat, followed by once weekly until it wraps up in December.

Bro... very pleasant surprise

That's what I'm hearing, Playa. I listened to a podcast interview with her a week or two back. The guy interviewing her was middle-aged and a longtime fan. Said he was really happy for her getting this shine late in her career, and she agreed - said it was a pleasant experience on set.

Started watching this, it's pretty good except that Taylor Sheridan is very limited when it comes to creating characters. This show is basically Yellowstone but a CIA thriller. All the men have beards and are manly men with deep voices and a thousand yard stare and they are no none-sense and will tell you like it is.
