Always shocked when i see the run times for the episodes. It's like two SNL skits put together.

Agreed. My pops replied last week - "It's not even 22 minutes?"

When he says there's too much stuff to catch up on, I remind him he can watch 3 eps of Bookie in essentially 1 hour (at 17 - 22 minutes each).

Or some of these other shows that are 40 minutes ... you can catch up on 3 eps of those in the length of 1 movie. So don't worry if you fall behind on eps, lol.

Squid Game
2024
Season 2
7 Episodes

The new season debuted last month and I watched it today at home.

The season is 2 episodes short from season 1 being they are concluding the series with 2 final seasons.

It starts off immediately with GI-Hun leaving the airport with red hair. We find out that Police Officer Jun-Ho survived being shot by the Front Man.

The season proceeds to do a time jump of 3 years to the start of the new games while showing GI-Hum and Jun-Ho efforts to get back to the island.

We got a glimpse of how sadistic the Recruiter is. He disclosed his backstory.

The first 3 episodes sets things up and introduces new characters. The games begin in episode 3. New rules are debuted for the games. We get a interesting twist after Game 1. New games are debuted.

The organ harvesting scheme is still going on and the leader of the scheme is revealed.

For the Gay Agenda trackers, a Female Trans contestant is introduced for the games.

Only 3 games are debuted.

The season ends in a cliffhanger to lead into the final season.

There is a small mid-credit scene during the credits in the last episode of the season.

Season 3 as of this writing is scheduled for a 2025 release.

Dune: Prophecy
2024
6 Episodes

This series debuted November 2024. I started watching this series last night at home and finished this afternoon.

I have never read the books, so I went into the series blind.

The series takes place about 80 years after the war between humans/AI Machines and 10,000 years before the events of “Dune”.

The main premise is the Sisterhood’s origins, rise of power in the Imperium and their plans in maintaining control in the Imperium.

It’s a somewhat slow burn series with a lot of drama and talking. It’s heavy on character introductions/development. There isn’t anything for full blown shoot ‘em action or space ship fighting or anything.

There are a small amount of major characters that are focused on, which makes it easier to follow the series. A few twists are revealed with a few of the characters. Nothing extraordinary or exciting.

The character “Desmond Hart” is comedic with how they made him looked like a burnt out “Jax Teller” from “Sons of Anarchy”.

VFX/SFX, set designs are on movie level. Warner Bros. didn’t go the cheap route for this series.

Being there are only 6 episodes, it keeps the series on a good steady pace and focused. If it was a 10 episode series, it definitely would have bombed. “House of Dragons” and future series in that franchise should follow what they are doing with Dune: Prophecy and keep it short and compact.

Looking forward to Season 2.

Sounds like a good combo. Heard some good reviews from the media podcasts. They appreciated the dry humor.

Unrelated note ... heard some good reviews for this new series the other day. Playa - apparently there's a brief storyline on sickle cell in one of the first episodes ... 'The Pitt'
