I posted this weeks ago, but my boy Bamberg explained what would happen in SC and a lot other states if the DOE is disbanded. Crazy how MAGA don’t know the implications of this and the impact of open Civil Rights cases that would go unheard
Trump said yesterday during his chat with Elon Musk that one of the first things he’d do as President is CLOSE (not restructure but CLOSE) the U.S. Department of Education and move education SOLELY to the states (no more federal involvement or funding). Y’all should go look at how much federal funding each state — including South Carolina — requires in order to actually just operate. Would be the DEATH of South Carolina’s public education system. 1/3 ….. ONE THIRD of SC’s state budget is federal money our state gets from the U.S. government.
Ain’t a snowball’s chance in hell the SC General Assembly would make up the funding difference out of the state’s general fund. I’ve been blessed to serve in the SC House of Representatives for a decade, and I’m telling yall that the rural areas will be obliterated.
A small portion of areas in S.C. would undoubtedly be fine without federal backing. Those areas where their local government is already able to spend $50M on arenas and stuff, but the rest of us and majority of our kids would be toast. Unless yall got a bag to pay for K-12 private school and the time to drop off and pick up your kids everyday until they start driving, you gotta stop focusing SOLELY on party or certain aspects of candidates and look at what folks will be trying to do to and for your communities AND your personal lives.
