As a dispatcher it's there job to calmly assess the situation and interact with the caller while also trying to keep them calm until paramedics, police, or the fire department can arrive.

This very well could have ended with someone being killed because of the dispatcher and the wife mentioning guns/violence. She was trying to deescalate but you saw how the dispatcher was trying to run with it.
