Its wild that instead of celebrating both camps the Internet doing what it does and pitting them against each other......
Well it didn't help that The LOX really laid into the battle concept, probably more than everybody else except Gucci. Those were the only two battles that felt like they could've got violent.
But that's the flaw in Verzuz as a concept.
It's really just a concert, but they market it as a battle. So naturally, people are going to spectate like "well, who won?" because they put it in the viewers' mind that someone has to "win."
They don't announce a winner or keep scores (which they shouldn't), they leave it up to fan interpretation.
And it seems like that will always overshadow the underlying message of "it's a celebration, the fans win the battle because they got to witness a joint concert."
That's why I always tried to tell niggas to stop keeping scores and shit, and just focus on the moments.
I feel the same way about Jordan/Lebron debates. Sports media got us thinking we need to put one over the other, when really we should just appreciate both of them the same. Music is the same way.
I'm just thankful I lived in an era where I saw Jordan play and Lebron play. I wish I could've seen full color HD Bill Russell or Oscar Robertson games just like I wish I could've been there when Eric B. and Rakim first dropped.
I'm thankful I lived in the LOX era and the Dipset era, because whether you like their music personally or not, as long as you were there, you can at least understand the magnitude of these two groups being on stage at the same time.
