I wear this often. I wish they made a candle of this scent.

I'm also into home fragrance- Room sprays and scented candles and have a grip of that shit as well. :smh:

It's going to cost you tho'- $130 ish for a 40 hour burn time. They have decent throw (scent projection) and a nice, clean burn.

Then you have to be hip to Jo Malone fragrances and candles right? Me and my wife have to have more than 40 different Jo Malone colognes and their candles stay burning at our crib.

I'm a relatively avid fragrance collector (100-ish bottles)
Interestingly enough, I think the EDT is best for what I think Bleu is trying to be. And it was out first.

When BdC first dropped, I picked up a bottle of the EdT, as that was all that was available. My son was like 10 or 11 at the time and didn't give a shit about any of this cologne game. He is now 21 and has since gotten into women and subsequently- fragrances, and within a year or two gone through entire bottles of not only my Bleu, but Sauvage, La Nuit De L'homme and Green Irish Tweed. and these were older bottles that usually smell better than more recent offerings-from when before something has been reformulated. :smh:

complaining aside, I replaced the Bleu he used up with the parfum, and he doesn't like it as much- and won't use it. This Christmas, I gifted him bottles of the Bleu (EdT,) G.I.T, and La Nuit. I picked up the travel size of Bleu EdT for myself, and can smell the parfum and EdT side by side.
While the drydowns are similar, the citrus, the "effervescence" and fresher aspects of the toilette are not present in the parfum.

The bleu EdP, I only have a 5ml sample of, and to my nose, it is a little fuller/richer than the EdT, and more complex than the parfum. I wouldn't mess with the parfum unless I was 40 + (which I am)
Funny you say that. I'm 38 and I love the Parfum most out all 3 of them. I recently added it to the collection. I'll probably get the other 2 as well though.

I'm currently getting my collection back up. Before I met my woman I had at least 20 bottles of all types. Stopped caring about it for years, but now I'm back at it! And she doesn't understand why I need so many different colognes lol.

What would you say your top 3-5 winter scents are?

And with such an impressive collection (100+) what's your setup looking like? For some reason I'm picturing a whole back wall like Jeremy Fragrance

Absolutely! Jo Malone is great! I'm really into that brand right now. My personal favorites are Myrrh&Tonka from the cologne intense line and Whiskey & Cedarwood from the Huntsman line. I got my girl (at her request) English Oak & Redcurrant and Poppy &Barley for her birthday and she loves them. Has not been wearing anything else since September.

I also dig the little 9ml bottles they have- I've got a billion samples/decants, but when I get a sample of Jo Malone, I will usually get that little rectangular bottle if I can.

Do you and your Wife layer any of them? almost every time I'm at the Jo Malone counter, they talk about it- but aside from 154/wood sage&sea salt, I don't really layer. What are some good (masculine) combinations?

I just picked up a Myrrh &Tonka candle this month. Haven't burned it yet, but looking forward to it. The only other candle I have experience with is Wood sage and sea salt. Haven't tried any of their room sprays, but bought a friend some (pomegranate noir) and she said it's great. Any candle recommendations?

My favorite candles, by far- are Diptyque. I don't know how they do it, but those candle throw across a room (at least in my house) and their room sprays smell almost exactly like the candles. If you are into candles, you can get little shot-glass size ones (35g) to try for like 20 bucks- then if you like them, you can look into the bigger sizes. My favorites are Oud, Patchouli, Santal, Cypress and most of the woody/herbal ones. Women die for the Baise, Tubrose and strangely enough the Feu de Bois (wood fire) one.

Maybe it's because the EdT of Bleu was out first, it's cemented in my mind that it (the sparkling, citrus fresh vibe) is what it is supposed to smell like, and the flankers are deviations from that- moreso the parfum that the EdP... I DO like the parfum - it's rich, dense- it's almost like spraying on just the drydown of the EdT. My kid hates it though... when I got a bottle of EdT for him, I picked up a travel size for myself and was reminded of how much I liked it. Now I can have that citrus and freshness- that transparent top of the EdT, whenever the mood hits- but a travel size (3 20ml vials and a travel sprayer) is enough to last- cause I will mostly wear the parfum.

A few things I like for winter are (and you know a true fraghead could never keep a list to 3-5) and aside from Straight to Heaven which is probably my favorite, I would hate to rank them or say what my top ones are- because my favorites change on a day to day basis;

Tobacco Vanille
Clive Christian X
Bois Du Portugal
Back to Black
Straight to Heaven
Tragedy of Lord George
Most of the Acqua Di Parma Colonia line- Oud..Leather..Ambra..Ebano. .Quercia... Sandalo..all of them are decent, but leather and the oud are great
M7
Egoiste
Bleu parfum
Eau Sauvage parfum ( "Eau Sauvage" is different from the current Sauvage, both by Dior)
Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka
Jo Malone Whisky & Cedarwood

These and maybe 10-12 other bottles are what make up my winter stuff. Remember, different people like different things- And many of my favorites are what folks might say smell like "old man".. So if you are considering any of these for purchase, PLEASE sample them first. I know only too well the disappointment of reading dozens of hyped up reviews, getting all excited and ordering a bottle- then getting that shit and... :puke: it stinks!

I would never call my collection impressive. I hesitate to even call it a collection, because that would suggest some rhyme or reason to what I accumulate. I just buy what (I think) smells good- it can be something cheap or something expensive, I don't really care, as long as I enjoy the fragrance.

I don't bother to display my bottles. I keep most of them in a little linen closet that has several shelves. It is centrally located in my house,( so the temperature & humidity is relatively stable all year) and I can close to door to it and keep the bottles in the dark.

I have been going over this for YEARS with my girl- she wants to "display" her perfumes in the bathroom or on her bedroom dresser. I nag her about how the sunlight and the temperature/humidity fluctuations will shorten the life of her bottles. Since I am the one mostly buying these bottles, she doesn't really worry about it much, and it pisses me off to see what I consider reckless treatment of a gift, lol.
The way I fixed it was, I gave her an empty bottle for a gift and told her since she didn't care about the contents, only about showing off the bottle, that I was only giving her empty bottles from then on. Straightened her ass right out!

This is why I tend to stay out of fragrance threads on here... because my inner nerd comes out, I get to rambling and shit and I end up looking like (more of) a goddamn dork.

Brah, I can't really call which one is my favorite. I can say that Myrth Tonka, Pomegranate, Wood Sage and Sea Salt, and English Pear and Fresca are all bottles I have bought more than once. I also like the Huntsman and Rare Teas line as well. Yes, I do layer them, as well to include layering Tom Ford (try Lost Cherry and Tobacco Vanilla or tobacco Oud for starters). I have purchased a lions share of Jo Malone in the past six years plus when I was first introduced to the brand while working in Qatar. 40-60 bottles later I would have to say it's my most owned brand followed by 10 or so bottles of Creed, and about the same of Tom Ford.

Like you I could go on about different fragrances. For example I have a bottle of Halston Z12 and Paco Rabon from the eighties that still hold a scent (crazy I know) and I use from time to time. I have oils I purchased in Saudi before returning from Desert Storm and I try to buy some from every place I visit (sometimes just for the uniqueness of the bottle). To make them last I also keep them in a former tv cabinet that I converted to cologne/perfume storage since my wife also has the same fragrance vice that I do. I figure they're 200 or so bottles of various sizes inside but I never counted (maybe I should). One thing I know for sure is in the event of a fire it would be one hell of an accelerant.

On the strength of you mentioning Diptyque (never heard of it), I'm going to give their candles a shot. This is another vice that me and my wife have (only thing she won't pay $200 for a candle but I have multiple times and have even spent more on Jo Malone's Luxury candle). Anyway's, where is a good place to pick up a Diptyque candle?

I like Tobacco Vanille also and the part about keeping the bottles in the dark I need to do that.

I Have a bottle of Tobacco Vanille, but not Lost cherry. I'll pick up a sample of it and give that a spin. I'm not a big fan of Tobacco Oud or Oud wood, but will try out some combinations with the other Tom fords I have.

Nice! People think I'm nuts when I tell them I have vintage bottles that are many years old. Like my girl, they don't understand that if you care for them correctly, your bottles will last many, many years. Dope to see that you are in to a couple those oldies as well.

They are about the same price as Jo Malone candles ($68 for the 60 hour 190g candle)
If you don't mind paying retail, since they are pretty much the same price everywhere- I usually just get them direct from Diptyque; Same price as everywhere else, and they have the biggest selection of scents, (some stores will only sell the top few candles) and they also carry several boutique exclusives that you can't get anywhere else.

By far the most popular Diptyque candle scents are Baies and Tubrose.

You can get them at a discount on ebay, but in my experience, the candles will sometimes be open already (no shrink-wrap) or may have been sitting for a significant amount of time- since the discount isn't huge, I just buy them retail.

Depending on where you live, if you have a Nordstrom in your area, you can go there and smell them.

Another dope site for candles and room sprays is candle delirium. I don't know about many of the brands they sell, and have bought a few duds on there, but for the most part it's a great place to purchase from-
You can sort what you're looking at by brand or by fragrance (smokey, woody, floral, citrus- they even have a category for "man"candles) and their candles are close to the same price you'd find at retail. They also do some room sprays and diffusers and stuff like that.
