I used to come here just to talk shit, but now I come here almost exclusively for the news, which is curated for my demographic. Also, the humor to a lesser extent. Not much into sports anymore despite my sig.

I came up with a business plan a couple years ago That centers on building a black community development system to change the way business is done in our community. All Black owned. It's taking a little bit longer than I thought, but I'm going to need a lot of great Black minds because there are aspects of this business that I'm going to need help and I can get it on this board.

The plan is built upon me having my primary business going first. That way I am not dependent upon the community for profit, and in not doing so i'm free to do promotions and other deas and not feel I must pimp the Community for every dollar.

Yeah - first happened across the site back around Sept. 1997. Knew it as Online-Video / BGOL.

Funny side note ... back in the day when there was the inter-site beef between BGOL / On Probation ... OP / On Probation was getting blocked/censored in certain regards. That's why I had to hyphenate my username to Helico-pterFunk, as the OP part of Helicopter was getting fucked with and blocked.

The news is unmatched. It's broken here more than anywhere, usually I just refresh sometimes to see what's happened in the world more than anything.

Learned most of my photoshop skills from the old sig contests. Went on to use those skills to make money. Learned about bit torrent and megaupload type services here too. Through BGOL I also learned about Tariq Nasheed whom I believe to be one of the most innovative and and profound social thinkers of my generation. I chose my college based on the recommendation of a BGOL member. Lately I have learned about a new DJ subscription record pool which I'm examining today and a half dozen new apartment finding services which I will look into later.

With the exception of a few spiteful individuals I feel like the greater BGOL community has consistently shown me the respect and validation I rarely experience anywhere else. The political discussions I have witnessed or participated in have shaped most of my world view and consciousness. I feel like this site has made me a better human being.
