Regarding Donnell, I’m not related to him and I also don’t think that he’s funny. But he’s been traveling the world for probably 20 years doing comedy. That was the point of my reply to you.

Emmitt Smith tended to be more "North - South," and would try to "eke out" a few yards if the Offensive line collapsed (that is not to say that Smith did not have no gain or negative yards on his rushing attempts).
Although, we are engaged in a hypothetical discussion, I will provide you with a little known NFL statistic:

That's almost half of what Barry's best year was in this category. What's worse yet is that according to NFL Films (as of 2012) Barry actually holds the record for most yards lost by a running back in a career with 1,114 yards.Jul 19, 2019

I remember years ago when the Lions were playing the Cowboys on Monday Night Football, the journalists were having this same argument. The question was if Barry played on the Cowboys what would happen. A very pro-Emmett writer answered Barry would run for 2000 yards every season but the Cowboys wouldn't win the Superbowl. That was a bull shit answer! Barry's giving you an extra 500, 600 yards a season but the teams gonna do worse?

Emmett and Jimmy Johnson had a fall out because Jimmy said when they reviewed footage, Emmett wouldn't get touch until he was more than 3 yards downfield.

In Detroit, we got to see every game with Barry, not just 3 or 4 games a season but every snap. Since the Cowboys were America's team, we got to watch them almost as much. Barry had to fight for every yard. Emmett ran with authority knowing that he was going to be tackled 3 yards downfield by a D Back. Barry had D-line waiting for him in the backfield. No player in NFL history did more with less.

Just my humble opinion.

I was watching a few of Barry Sanders's highlights and his running style at Oklahoma State appears to be the same (It's difficult to find full games).
The Dallas Cowboys appear to have the more reliable O-line.
Emmitt Smith on the Detroit Lions would still be an over 1,000 yards a season back. Dallas , in my opinion, had a better team overall at the time, but Detroit was 12- 4 (1991)
