When workers can living places like Gilroy, Hollister, Fresno, and still commute to silicon valley eventually they're going to open up businesses in their own backyard. It would also make housing cheaper in the Bay Area than anything else that's been tried and failed so far.

Case in point, take a walk almost any American city and look at the neighborhoods that developed before the civil rights era. Right away you'll notice that anyone who lives here can easily handle all of their day-to-day needs within a 10-minute walk of their house or apartment. There will usually be a train station or rapid bus line around the corner as well.
Neighborhoods built since then are so spread out that you have go through a traffic jam just to get to the corner store. That's how cars went from something that were nice to have to something you absolutely need just to survive.

I disagree for three reasons
1) driver's license photos only need to be updated every 5 years. Passports every 10. A lot of women age horribly between the ages of 25 and 34.
2) those profile pictures would be a gold mine for people making fake IDs
3) most importantly, we've had the ability to do that since the Myspace days, but it never happened. That tells me that nobody really wants it.

As a black professional, I’m seeing the wave/fad of the hyphenated last name for sistas waning. There’s a segment of professional sistas between 35-50 with them, but the under-35 YO crowd of folks getting married seem to have dumped a bucket of water on that flame. Now, they are expressing their independence and feminism in other ways, that’s good, but seem to realize that a lot of dudes ain’t with that “me over we” BS that hyphenation kind of creates.

1) because our possessions are the main thing that determines our status as human beings. If we're all equal under God then those possessions have to go.
2) I feel two ways about this. On one hand, nothing exemplifies the values and spirit of America more than a man who started a slave rebellion. On the other hand, if Nat Turner's rebellion had been successful he probably would have started his own country.
3) Very unlikely.
For starters, Malcolm was surrounded by musicians in his Detroit Red days. If he had any interest in starting a music career he would have used those connections. There's no evidence that he ever did. Don't see why that would change 50 years later.
The few rappers blessed enough to have a career usually fade out around the age of 25 to 27. For an artist born in 1975 that would be roughly 2000 - 2002. At that point there were very few rappers using the lil moniker.
Most important, unlike Detroit Red, Lil D Red would have been born in the age of mass incarceration. Assuming that he did the same or similar hustles he would have been way more likely to get caught and would have served a way longer sentence. He might still be in prison now.
4) if you crash and wreck your car tonight what happens to the gas still in the tank? And what do you make of the fact that when you turned the key this morning the motor ran fine?
After the accident your car will be towed to a junkyard will it will be stripped down to its basic parts. In turn, those parts will be used to improve the lifespan and performance of other cars. Eventually those parts will be broken down further into components and raw materials which will be used to make a better car.
It's a crude example, but nature functions in a similar way.
