Why would nasa and thousands of scientists world wide lie about the shape of the earth?
My theory:
Drinking is overrated and a sleeping pill for the masses. Slows down motor function and essentially makes you dumb when consumed. After consumption, who knows for how long after (days? weeks?) your liver has to process the poison and take away from other vital functions that keep you young, in a good mood, fresh and able to make shit happen and progress in life (finances, fitness, health, you name it).
As a result of slowed down progress, we are less happy in general, in life and we seek an escape and what better way than a couple of drinks. And so goes the cycle.
If you ever decide to stop drinking and are open about it, you will see a mass reaction to your decision in social settings - some will call you boring, some will even get angry. If you pretend to drink, glass of water on ice, nobody will be the wiser and you can chop it up with your work colleagues like you're one of the herd and the next day you will pretend you don't remember all the fucked up shit they said and did when drunk.
There's a liquor store on every block in the hood and every rapper is promoting some brand - agenda?

1. We would already have multi-billion dollar Black corporations if our early attempts (70's and 80's) to build wealth and an economic base hadn't been systematically destroyed by the people who hate us.
2. Standardized testing, Black incarceration, minority policing policies, and housing/small business loan discrimination is part of a multi-level response to the partial successes of the Civil Rights movement.
3. The main division in this country is between rich and poor, and Black and Brown minorities are encouraged to stop succeeding because if we become successful, there is a chance that this would become clear to more people.
4. Laws and policies are designed to protect the wealth of the people writing them/buying them, and this has been true since the rich land and slave owners gathered to write the Constitution.
5. The history of US politics is mostly the history of rich men lying to each other and the populace, and the first lie that was told (although unintentional because we weren't actually counted as people in that time) is the phrase "All men are created equal."
6. The mainstream evolution of the African drum (read: rap/ hip-hop/R&B) is guided by corporations run by people who do not have our best interests at heart. As a result, more and more of the best music is underground.
7. Tupac and Biggie records are played far too often on all corporately owned stations, and while corporations hope that listeners see this as a sign of respect for these two talented old school rappers, there may also be an element of the old "the only good n--- is a dead n---" mentality from the days of Jim Crow (there are plenty of talented old school artists who are still alive, but aren't played nearly as much).
8. Mainstream news cannot be trusted because it uses fear and sensationalism to draw viewers.
9. The dumbing down of our educational system has led to a generation of people who hate to read, don't believe in voting, and will follow the person who shouts the loudest and gets them angry.
10. Tupac was an unusually gifted actor and poet who died because he forgot he was playing a role.

Treme (the HBO series) was probably one of the most accurate depictions of New Orleans but it was boring as hell at times and didn't touch enough of the issues that were effecting New Orleans in those years immediately after Katrina..
It lags far behind The Wire which is thought provoking, moving and sometimes generally hard to watch but rightfully deserving of it's title as one of the best TV shows of all time. Treme was too inconsistent and the last season felt like there just putting it out of it's misery

Just because the egyptians and aztecs believed it was flat isn't proof. They believed a lot of shit that they were wrong about.
I believe the only people whom are entertained and like The Wire are folks whom didn't grow up around the shit and can't see how full of shit the show was compared to real world. The Show was so unbelievably bullshit that I don't know anyone whom were raised in that shit that like that show.
I don't like the vast majority Of the shows that get top billing on BGOL , dexter. The wire, breaking bad, walking dead, game of thrones. I believe movies like The Godfather are more racist than they are entertaining.

Not being argumentative, I watched thru the series once and enjoyed it, thought it was pretty brutal. I haven't re-watched it since.
Also, if you do think The Wire was over the top, maybe that's why Treme was so tame in comparison.

It's not about it being over the top it's about having grown up in an environment like the one they tried to portray and seeing all the inaccuracies and shit that would never happen made the shit unwatchable for me. It's akin to how lawyers talk about law shows like law and order, the practice. Boston legal and others. If you know anyone that practices law get their opinion on shows regarding the law. The wire may have been entertaining but if you from that environment you know how wack the shit is AND see how it came from the mind of someone whom did their best to show what was real but had no real work experience so it's just TV.
