Who is saying that? Fat Joe is celebrating the Latinos who contributed at the beginning. They were right there with us in the Bronx. There’s no denying they contributed in the beginning.
No doubt about it, but as a collective HELL TO THE FUCKIN NO
them latinos were dissing other latinos that embraced hip hop culture,
they were tellin them, you tryin to be like them cocolos, the latino community
as a WHOLE did NOT embrace hip hop AT ALL...
there was a large percentage of latino youths that were part no doubt...
but the only reason many of them got exposure like the rock steady crew,
is because they were mostly lightskin latinos and were considered more marketable,
but in the begining hip hop was pure american chocolate bruh..and the latinos involved were soley
puerto ricans that hung out with cocolos, many and I mean MANY went the racist italian route...
and even if there were other bruhs from the islands outside the game,
that shit was NOT repped at all..I do remember krs1 reppin a lil Jahmakin sound but thats it, but no doubt about it
. NOW that hip hop is infused in damn near
all forms of music, erebody claiming that shit...
but lations as a whole back then are the same now,
they were on that improva la raza shit, where the more pasty and
cracker you become was an "improvement" which is total retardation on
a tropical island but thats another topic for another time..
nevertheless they practiced that move as far away as you can from
kniggas..
and hip hop was a real knigga thing, always was, always will be...
Its just the dope shit is underground now..
Shout out to Jah Bricks, shout out to Trey ALi!!!
