Man I can let any hoe go. I’m not spending my life in jail for no good for nothing bitch. Just like my ex wife, told her go do your thing. I’m good bro. Here’s my theme song

“Can’t let nobody hold me down these hoes could never hold meeeeee” my emotions will never get the best of me like that. I’ll be checking the internet to see fools killing other people over a bitch? Not ME!

Had Chris been talking about Tyson's family Mike wouldve been chasing him out of the Dolby Theater
I say this shit all the time. Everybody knows that there is a lane you don't go into when you fucking with people who can whoop your motherfuking ass

That's not to say bitch up, but don't do that habitual line stepping shit

Chris Rock is a lifelong habitual line stepper. Might as well say he's got a doctorate in that shit. Add to it he from Brooklyn oh, that just makes it worse

If I'm arguing with Mike Tyson oh, I'm not going to bitch up, but I'm not going to step across that imaginary line. If I go out on a branch and say, "That's why your mother is a bitch and she died to get away from you"

I step across that imaginary line and if Mike Tyson decides to whoop my ass I deserve it

The line is more faint when you're dealing with someone who is an equal. You can jump bad with an equal because y'all are on equal footing, but somebody who can whoop your ass you have to tread at least a little lightly

I say it again, I'm not saying Will Smith should have done it, but I understand

Will Smith laughed at the joke. He wasn't offended by it. His wife told him "go fetch boy" and he complied.

Why everybody saying that Will wouldn't slap someone bigger?!!

Will is not a small dude and for his age he is in better shape and than kats 1/2 his age. Plus dude has training.

Steve would have got slapped just like Rock did. Steve w/ the that tough guy bullshit would get handled by Will.

That being said, Steve, Ced, Mac, nor DL would not have even told a joke like that to begin with.

I agree, that Chris didn't mean any harm, but it is what it is and he got what the fuck he got.

Good on Chris for being a man about things and apologizing. I'm sure he and Will will sort this shit out and life goes on!!!
Will ain’t no dummy, he knew who to step to. You think he slapping the Rock?

I realized I never got to say my peace.
When it comes to comedy, I'll always defend a comedian's attempt at making a joke, no matter what the material may be. As someone that gets on stage and does a podcast, there are moments when I'm just throwing shit out there trying to be funny, and sometimes it'll land, sometimes it'll bomb.

On the other hand, I'm a person that grew up in North Philly, and I understand that you can't control how someone is going to react. I've seen that iconic scene from Goodfellas, "what's so funny about me? I'm like a clown?", play out in real life when someone is joking, and the other person doesn't take it as a joke. We can't control how someone is going to react.

My problem now is with all the pearl clutching, holier than though people that supported the trans and gay people rallying against Chappelle, and the Asians rallying against Shane Gillis, suddenly saying Will overreacted and it was just a joke. Chappelle's trans jokes weren't jokes when it offended them, they took it as a statement. Gillis' Asian joke wasn't a joke to them, they took it as a statement. Now because the joke isn't about you, it shouldn't be taken as a statement?!?!?!
A letter writing campaign is a reaction!!
Trying to get someone fired from SNL is a reaction!!!
Protesting someone's shows is a reaction!!!
Slapping someone in front of people is a reaction!!!

Most of the female students in my class think it was honorable what Will done. Then the discussion went into a man defending their woman in situations.

Most the of male students said it was a joke that wasn’t even that bad. Which I thought it was interesting too.

After all my classes ended, I concluded that people are nuts. That night, people saw what they saw and made whatever justification about it in a very personal way. All I heard was, what was right or wrong about what Will did or what Chris said.

I told my female students, his wife has done worse to Will than what Chris said about her. So that’s that. But however one rationalizes their thoughts ain’t even my business. Regardless, it happened and I’m glad it did.

All well said, except for one thing: the Asian and alphabet people that were offended and protested didn't find the jokes funny at first.
