Even sadder, wasn't this the first time they let a black person direct the Oscars? If so, from what I've heard, it was going great, until...

Yup.
And that’s what I reminded my female students of that justified Will’s reaction.

Some seemingly wasn’t connecting the level of emasculation and embarrassment Will has been enduring because Jada KNOWS Will doesn’t believe in divorce. She’s taken advantage of that.

Her health is a deflection to all the precursors that led to that moment. The internet made that joke about her health or her hair or whatever else.

But when you analyze any person’s breaking point, most (if not all) psychologist/investigators look at the things that lead to that moment. And we all know that didn’t have shit to do with Rock.

Rock was jus the fall guy.

Totally agree. After all of the shit they've been through in the past couple of years (Their doing), this was just the point where Jada made Will hit them streets and do her bidding. This was all Jada, because Will didn't find anything offensive about this. Your first reaction is your truest reaction, and what was Will's first reaction? I'm hearing all of these people talking about Will being right, because they've been taking a public beating lately. Well, Jada was wearing the boxing gloves giving themselves that beating.

Chris Rock is not Will Smith’s first awards show slap

This isn’t the first time Will Smith has slapped someone at an awards show: A decade ago, he smacked a man in the face on the red carpet for “Men in Black III.”
Video from 2012 shows Smith backhanding Ukrainian jokester Vitalii Sediuk, who was posing as a reporter, in the face while doing interviews for his movie in Moscow.
Seduik — whose wild altercations with celebrities have seen him arrested or served with restraining orders — overstepped the mark when he bizarrely reached out to kiss Smith on both cheeks, claiming that was a traditional Ukrainian greeting.
Smith is seen in the video shoving Sediuk away and demanding, “What the hell is your your problem, man?” before giving him a swift backhanded slap in the face.
As the actor’s publicists looked on nervously, Smith is seen in another clip jokingly playing off the slap to the next TV camera crew, stating, “He tried to kiss me on the mouth … he’s lucky I didn’t sucker-punch him. Oh, I said that on camera — you know it’s all good.”

At the time, Smith’s slap was met with approval from his fellow stars. Smith later said on an interview with streaming service Tidal’s Rap Radar podcast that Jay-Z immediately reached out to him.
“I get back and I’m pissed that somebody thinks because you’re famous, they get to do whatever they want to do to you,” Smith says on the podcast. “So I’m in my room and I had 10 urgent messages from Jay-Z.”
Smith said he called Jay back and he said, “I just saw the video of you slapping the dude in Russia. I just want you to know you’ll never make a better piece of entertainment. It’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.”
“He said, ‘Me and Bey, we got a show tonight, and we’re thinking about canceling it and just staying in and watching you slap this dude.’”

Sediuk is no angel: His pranks include rushing the stage at the 2013 Grammy Awards as Adele received an award, grabbing Bradley Cooper around the legs at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, and rushing Leo DiCaprio at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in 2014, trying to bury his face in the actor’s groin before he was dragged away by security.
He was arrested for trespassing at the 2014 Prabal Gurung runway show at New York Fashion Week, and a few months later, at the Cannes Film Festival, he crawled under America Ferrera’s gown, leaving her “shaken.”
That same year, Brad Pitt took out a restraining order against Sediuk after the actor was allegedly struck by the prankster at the premiere of Angelina Jolie’s film “Maleficent.”
But Sediuk still somehow believes he was harshly treated by Smith and insists the actor should not have slapped Chris Rock. He told the UK Sun, “(He has a) violent temper, yes, but I’m sure he realizes what he is doing.
“The issue was how he did that. I’m sure he could have found a classier way.
“Also don’t forget that he is A-list and being A-list in Hollywood means that you can get away with a lot of stuff.

I don't think that's what happened. Furthermore, I don't think that when that hug occurred.

I am curious and need confirmation

The internet has been a mess covering this

Reputable news sources are reporting internet memes as facts.

Wtf?..

Same here, but think about this: What if you're Rock and Will slaps you, and THIS is the first thing you see immediately afterwards? You can't help but feel some kinda towards Jackson.

Hmmm...Chris Rock aint never joked about Samuel...and I know he got a lot of material he could with...brah

Man, Rock has to feel a certain way about Jackson, Denzel, Perry, and who ever else.

For me, that says a lot.

Why do you think we didn’t see anyone talking to Rock?

Samuel was ecstatic...I bet Chris wouldn't cap on Sam or Denzel wife...brah

Why would he? Their wives don’t put themselves out there.

Why you think people go at Steph wife? Because she puts herself out to be got at.

Other wives like Denzel’s, Sam’s, Bron’s, and so forth stay in a particular place. And if they do put themselves out there, they aren’t emasculating or embarrassing their husbands.

Jada open the doors for this to happen. Doors wide open.

One way to look at it is, maybe everyone felt Rock didn't need talking to. He kept his composure throughout the whole thing. Will was in Stepford Husband mode, so they had to reel him in.
