This is all kinds of fucked up. Sis is potentially about to be a pawn in a way bigger game that doesn't have shit to do with vape pens or basketball. Hope she's OK.
Watching white people go ham on her talking about she doesn't love America so fuck her, even some people on this site are going in.

I know full and Damned well that it's either one of them were in another country they would be hoping someone will come and get their ass

If you smoke weed just for your own personal, you're not thinking like a drug dealer. Iman Shumpert just got caught with 6 oz.. He wasn't selling that shit. They love treating regular people like dealers but don't go after the dealers

I hope they rescue her ass, because I would want them to rescue me

If you're stoopid enough to do stupid shit in foreign countries.... enjoy your stay in prison.... which 99.999% of the time ain't the cake walk that it is here

.
This is quite an emotional response.

I trust your emotional intelligence has evolved since.

True but then again I can see them handling this shit carefully considering Griner is VERY gay and VERY masculine and is in a country that doesn't give two shits about the LGBT...

Also letting the T drive the car probably hurt that community also. Many moderates became conservatives when they came to the forefront.
Dave said it and he was right.
How can the US determine what some other countries laws are wrong
We do it with everything else.
Why have selective amnesia at this juncture?
America always wanna play the worlds police at their leisure.

A woman had more weed and got far less time.

A week after Griner’s appeal was announced, former NBA star Dennis Rodman told NBC News that he would be making the trip to Russia to “help that girl,” presumably speaking about Griner.

“I got permission to go to Russia to help that girl,” he said, adding, “I’m trying to go this week. It’s unclear whether he actually received any formal approval by the government (which is still trying to negotiate for her release) for his trip, though he wouldn’t technically need official permission to visit Russia.

Besides, it wouldn’t be the first time Rodman has seemingly taken international relations in his own hands. He famously formed a relationship with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, and has reportedly called Putin “cool.”

Here's the problem with this. These folks are looking at the Britney Griner situation with a "this is a democracy" lens. But russia aint no democracy! They do what they want! I was in china not long before covid shut shit down and I was a little shook cauae I know some pencil dick chinaman could make an example out of me and there wouldnt be shit I could do about it. Im on their turf.

And many times these same folks refuse to do the most minor things to uphold this democracy...like VOTING!

Look...I hope the sista gets out. But let this be a lesson to all of the lazy Americans who take America for granted.

Most people don't even have an idea how this country works, much less the world.

UPDATE: A Russian court has upheld the nine-year prison sentence of American basketball star Brittney Griner, drawing a rebuke from President Biden’s national security adviser Jake Sullivan, who called for Griner’s immediate release and decried the “sham judicial proceeding.”
Today’s ruling upholds the nine-year sentence in a penal colony. Griner, a WNBA star and two-time Olympic gold medallist, was arrested at a Moscow airport last February with vape cartridges containing cannabis oil.
In a statement, Griner’s lawyers said, “We are very disappointed. The verdict contains numerous defects, and we hoped that the court of appeal would take them into consideration.”

Said Sullivan, “We are aware of the news out of Russia that Brittney Griner will continue to be wrongfully detained under intolerable circumstances after having to undergo another sham judicial proceeding today. President Biden has been very clear that Brittney should be released immediately.”

PREVIOUS, Aug. 4: Brittney Griner, the two-time U.S. Olympic gold medal basketball player and WNBA star, was found guilty Thursday in Russia of drug smuggling and possession and sentenced to nine years in jail. The news comes six months after Griner was arrested at a Moscow airport while entering the country with cannabis oil in her luggage.
Her lawyers said they plan to appeal the ruling.
“We are very disappointed by the verdict,” said Griner’s attorneys Maria Blagovolina and Alexander Boykov. “As legal professionals, we believe that the court should be fair to everyone regardless of nationality. The court completely ignored all the evidence of the defense, and most importantly, the guilty plea. This contradicts the existing legal practice. Taking into account the amount of the substance (not to mention the defects of the expertise) and the plea, the verdict is absolutely unreasonable. We will certainly file an appeal.”
The high-profile case has reached the steps of both the U.S. State Department and the Kremlin, with the U.S. urging the release of Griner who has been in custody since her arrest in February. There have even been discussions between the countries about a prisoner swap that would also include Paul Whelan, an American accused of spying who has been in Russian custody since 2018.

“Today, American citizen Brittney Griner received a prison sentence that is one more reminder of what the world already knew: Russia is wrongfully detaining Brittney,” President Joe Biden said in a statement after the sentencing was announced. “It’s unacceptable, and I call on Russia to release her immediately so she can be with her wife, loved ones, friends, and teammates. My administration will continue to work tirelessly and pursue every possible avenue to bring Brittney and Paul Whelan home safely as soon as possible.”
The Associated Press reported that Griner showed little emotion after the sentence was read out today in the court in Khimki, a city just outside Moscow. She was also fined 1 million rubles, with the judge counting the time served toward Griner’s sentence.
Before the verdict was read, prosecutors called for a 9 1/2-year jail sentence for Griner, who pleaded guilty to the charges last month in hopes of leniency.
“I never meant to hurt anybody, I never meant to put in jeopardy the Russian population, I never meant to break any laws here,” Griner told the courtroom Thursday, per the AP. “I made an honest mistake and I hope that in your ruling that it doesn’t end my life here. I know everybody keeps talking about political pawn and politics, but I hope that that is far from this courtroom.”
