Love the show, dude playing Rza voice is annoying but I look past it.
When Rza played Ghost the “All that I got is you” beat..knowing what he did with that song still hit different
yes u summed it upIt's incredible
I watched all 4 back to back without realizing it.
Their ability to weave all these elements together is so hip hop
It's like the writing editing sound music and direction is inspired by RZA production style.
To me that ferry episode should be submitted to the Emmy
It's enter the dragon, Kung fi movie, spaghetti western, high noon, Clint Eastwood, anime, comic books. Greek myth...
The use of that sample, the boat announcer, the maze of the boat
the speech please don't lose that...
It is RARE to hear that type of honesty and vulnerability in real street slang.
The entire series is unexpectedly very heartfelt
There are so many moments that COULD BE CORNY
But they always straddle the line
It's not perfect
But it's creativity and honestly to me make it special especially in the hip hop genre.
Nowadays, it seems like all series conform to "soap opera-style" plots sooner or later.
Yeah, they keep the younger and female viewers engaged. (Think of how The Get Down went out of its way to cater to youthful audiences instead of just telling a story based around true events.)
But it leaves hardcore fans feeling turned off because it feels unauthentic.
IMO, this show has walked the tight rope perfectly.
It borders soap opera without tipping the scale into some bullshit.
I hope it continues.
I was listening to ODB today. That is wonderful observation
"Soap opera" has gained a negative connotation but that type of storytelling was actually very very difficult to pull off
And looking back was very progressive during creative and handled controversial and sensitive topics.
This show is a hip hop soap opera in the best way possible
Much like sons of anarchy was a soap opera for men.
yes u summed it up
this show is crazy dope
new edition did their thang but this is very good
ep 4 is dope
Episode 4 is a much needed episode. Rza has to get a lot of credit for pulling them together through all that.
Smart enough to understand Power was a major piece in what they were trying to do, on the credibility side because of his name outside Staten. The other Brooklyn cats (Gza, ODB, Masta Killa) helped give them more respect also.
On the episode where Raekwon's mom saw House Party and said, they're letting rappers be in movies now, maybe you can be in one someday. Was I the only one who thought about this shit here?
Why dude playing Rza speak like this? Niggas voice is weird as fuck.
Love the show, dude playing Rza voice is annoying but I look past it.
