How can authorities consider authorizing vaccines without data from human trials?

Influenza vaccines are updated each spring to try to match the strain most likely to circulate in the fall and winter. The reformulated shots don’t have to undergo new clinical trials unless the manufacturers significantly change the way they make the vaccine. A similar approach for new COVID-19 variants makes sense, says Leif Erik Sander, an infectious disease expert at the Charité University Hospital in Berlin. The changes to the mRNA are minor and providing updated vaccines as quickly as possible is “an ethical issue,” Sander says. “We need to allow people to protect themselves from a virus that we can’t fully control.”

But it’s a “misconception,” Maniar says, that the booster is being developed using only mice data, considering how much we now know about the underlying technology of the vaccines. “It’s not that we’re looking at something totally new,” he says. “What we’re looking at is an evolution of something that we already have a good amount of data on,” including real-world evidence of effectiveness worldwide. The mice data, he says, is really conducive to understanding the booster’s effectiveness against BA.4 and BA.5.

There’s also precedent for an expedited process like this, according to Brandon Dionne, associate clinical professor at Northeastern’s Bouve College of Health Sciences. With the influenza vaccine—which is developed each year based on a predictive model of which strains will be prevalent in a given year—the manufacturer only has to get FDA approval using testing on humans once. “Then annual updates to the inactivated vaccines are through a supplement to the license, which doesn’t require additional clinical [human trial] data since they’re based on the same manufacturing/technology platform,” he says.

During the 2019-2020 flu season, 52.1% of people ages six months and older got a flu vaccine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's tracking of flu vaccine distribution over the years shows that so far in the 2020-2021 flu season, 189.4 million flu vaccines have been distributed in the U.S., compared to 174 million in the 2019-2020 season.

Yep. Exactly why they are under EUA, so pharma can't be sued for injuries or deaths. They really stand behind their products I see.

Definitely a "not."
Just means those of us that want them will have a better chance to get them. Thank you for your service.

Please feel free to refuse the other vaccines and medical attention from the same doctors and hospitals trying to trick in to taking the covid vaccine so the lines are shorter for those too.

Been great so far. No covid, no chance of vaccine side effects or injury. But seriously, since we know the shots don't stop you from getting or spreading covid, why are you taking more injections? It's common knowledge they don't do what they were advertised to do. Why are you still getting them?

I already told my doctor no at my last visit. Nobody is pushing anything. Now why are you still getting shots when they don't stop you from getting or transmitting covid?

Because they do a great job of preventing severe disease and death even if you get covid. Why would you trust a doctor that advises you to get something you think is dangerous? Why don’t you refuse the rest of his advice?

I guess you haven't read the pfizer documents that are released every month. The data the FDA took 109 days to review but wanted to take 75 years to release to the public. Their own data says just the opposite. I don't take experimental drugs never used on humans before, with no safety history. Especially for a disease that has a 99%+ recovery rate for my age group with zero treatment. It just shows me that doctors who are pushing the shots are doing nothing but repeating the mainstream narrative. They can't tell you a drug is safe if no safety history exists. Why are these drugs only released under EUA ? Why is the FDA skipping their own advisory board?

And lots of data showing this...

Recent CDC data shows unvaccinated people are 20 times more likely to die.

Infectious disease doctors say it is still mainly unvaccinated people, most of whom are in their 30s and 40s with no underlying health issues, who are dying.

So for me, I'm getting the vaccine.

Guess what, I'll repeat, I give zero ZERO, ZILCH, NONE fucks whether you take the vaccine. The hilarious part is why you are so pressed and concerned with whether someone takes it. Or why they do.

If I want to take it for shits and giggles it's none of your concern. You think you have all the answers, well go off and be internet-wise. Like I said, no one that wants to get vaccinated will decide not to do so because you post on a porn board.

So I'm done with this back and forth.

No, that's a Pfizer press release. I was actually talking about their own trial data that showed the efficacy was actually 12% and 1200 deaths and 42k adverse events were reported in the first 3 months. I'm just trying to wake people up from covid hysteria. By shot #3 your own innate immune system is toast, leaving you susceptible to other infections, increase in cancers, etc because your body can't mount an effective immune response. Why hasn't the media discussed the Pfizer data? No ABC news articles? 50k pages released every month. Good luck to you.

Remember the "demon sperm" lady who praised hydroxychloroquine, said that masks weren't necessary, and had her videos retweeted by Trump himself? She was a member of America's Frontline Doctors too.

That group is aligned with the right wing, has had videos taken down for spreading misinformation, and has scammed republican idiots trying to buy ivermectin.

Imagine having so little to do in life that you're this pressed to convince people not to take a vaccine you're not taking LMAO.

Go be unvaxxed. No one in this thread is going to not take the vaccine because random niggas on BGOL said not to.
The big Pharma narrative is weird. Why would they only use a vaccine to deliver their poison? Wouldn’t it be easier just to put it into an over the counter medicine?

They act like these companies only make vaccinates and not damn near ever medicine we take lol

Here are the side effects to expect from your omicron-specific Covid booster shot

Annika Kim Constantino
September 14, 2022

If you're thinking of getting an omicron-specific Covid booster shot, you might be wondering what its side effects are — and how severe they might be.

Rest assured: They're not expected to be much different from what you may have experienced with previous vaccine and booster doses.

"We just don't have any data on this [yet], essentially giving two vaccines in one shot — but biologically, I just wouldn't expect the side effects, severity or the safety profile of the shots to be different from the current mRNA vaccines and boosters," Dr. Paul Offit, director of the Vaccine Education Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and member of an independent advisory group to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, tells CNBC Make It.

The reformulated shots from Pfizer and Moderna are bivalent, which means they target both the original Covid strain and omicron's BA.5 and BA.4 subvariants. Side effect data isn't available yet because the new boosters were approved by the FDA and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention before fully completing their clinical trials.

The federal agencies based their approvals off several other pieces of safety data, including evidence from the original Covid vaccines — the updated formulations are merely a tweak to those originals — and lab data on the shots' BA.5 element in mice.

They also examined clinical trial data on earlier versions of bivalent boosters targeting omicron's BA.1 subvariant. Those shots were never released to the public, because BA.1 was quickly surpassed by other omicron subvariants — but their design is extremely similar to the shots now available at pharmacies and clinics nationwide.

Together, the evidence shows a potential roadmap for the side effects you can expect after getting one of the new boosters, and how severe those side effects might be.

The expected side effects

In Pfizer and Moderna's clinical trials for the BA.1 shots, participants who were already fully vaccinated with a booster shot received an updated booster dose. In both clinical trials, the most commonly reported side effects within seven days of receiving the shot were:

- Pain
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Muscle pain
- Chills
- Joint pain
- Redness and swelling at the injection site
- Fever

That's a familiar list: It's the same group of side effects that came with the original formulations. But notably, in those clinical trials, the severity of the side effects was very mild.

Pfizer's trial found that about 52% of participants that received the BA.1 shot experienced mild pain at the injection site, 8% experienced moderate pain and only 0.3% experienced severe pain. Roughly 26% of participants experienced a mild or moderate headache, while only 0.3% experienced a severe one.

Moderna's trial found that nearly 59% of participants experienced fatigue, but only about 4% experienced that at a Grade 3 level, which is defined as significant fatigue that prevents daily activity.

Severe side effects are "generally" most common after receiving a second dose of a vaccine, not after receiving a third or fourth dose, says Offit. You're only eligible for the new boosters if you've completed a primary vaccination series, meaning most people will have already received at least two doses ahead of time.

The same concept held true during the last round of booster shots. The new shots have the same dosage amounts as the original vaccines, which further suggests that their safety profiles could be similar, Offit says.

A single dose of Pfizer's monovalent vaccine contains 30 micrograms of mRNA targeting the original Covid strain. The updated booster shots contain the same number of micrograms, with 15 targeting the original strain and the other 15 targeting BA.4 and BA.5.

Moderna's monovalent shot contains 50 micrograms of mRNA per dose targeting the original strain. Its updated booster has 25 micrograms targeting the original strain, and 25 targeting the omicron subvariants.

The BA.1 trials only tested a few hundred people, which is a relatively small sample size compared to the thousands of Americans set to receive the new BA.5 doses, Offit notes. You can still be confident going in, he says — just don't be 100% sure what to expect.

"We should keep our eyes wide open to what side effects and adverse events might occur, and still keep in mind that this is a new product," Offit says.

Mofos in Utah finally got it in their head to take this virus serious.

Most likely everybody in the state has been affected by the virus in some way.

Covid been kicking that states rear end since 2020.

Utah is heavily GOP and is controlled by the Conservative Mormon Church. If these White folks are taking it seriously, that should tell you something.

Utah COVID-19 vaccinations skyrocketed after new booster release, state reports

State data shows nearly 29,000 people received a coronavirus vaccine in Utah in the last week.

By Paighten Harkins
Sep. 15, 2022, 3:50 p.m.

More than 5,000 Utahns have died of COVID-19 — including eight children younger than 14 — since the beginning of the pandemic, according to state data released Thursday.

The state crossed this grim threshold after reporting 12 new deaths this week. One of those deaths was a Davis County boy, age 1-14, who died at the end of August.

Department of Health and Human Services data also shows that tens of thousands more people got vaccinated against the virus in the last seven days.

Nearly 29,000 Utahns received some form of COVID-19 vaccine, driven largely by the availability of the new omicron variant-specific vaccines, DHHS said. More than 12,000 people received a second booster.

The seven-day average case count increased slightly from 339 to 360. The state reported 2,487 new cases since last Thursday.

Experts have said they aren’t relying on testing data to track COVID-19 spread, since the state’s numbers don’t account for people who took at-home tests. Instead, they’re tracking hospitalizations, emergency room visits and how much of the virus is found in Utah wastewater.

Hospital records show that, on average, fewer people with COVID-19 were in Utah hospitals over the last week than in the seven days prior — 96 compared to 104. The seven-day average number of ICU patients decreased slightly, from 17 to 16.

The percentage of COVID-19 patients who visited emergency rooms also dropped, from 2.39% to 2.07%.

Coronavirus wastewater levels

Wastewater readings show fewer Utah sites — 52.9% of them, compared to 55.9% last week — found either elevated or increasing amounts of coronavirus in sewage.

Seven sites in Box Elder, Weber, Wasatch, Salt Lake, Utah and Washington counties saw “increasing” levels of COVID-19. Trends didn’t change at 21 sites, and six sites found decreasing levels.

Sixteen sites reported “elevated” amounts of COVID-19, and a seven sites were on “watch” status, meaning there is concern levels could become “elevated.” Eleven sites had low levels.

None of Utah’s 29 counties currently meet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s threshold for high community COVID-19 levels. The CDC has said that people in high COVID-19 transmission areas should wear a mask in public indoor spaces. No counties in Utah require masking.

The state reported 12 COVID-19 deaths this week, amounting to 5,001 since the pandemic began.

Breakdown of updated figures:

Vaccine doses administered in the past week/total doses administered • 28,983 / 5,403,548.

Number of Utahns fully vaccinated • 2,053,811 — 63.2% of Utah’s total population. Another 988,501 Utahns have received at least one booster shot — 30.4% of the population.

Cases reported in the past week • 2,487.

Average cases per day reported in the past week • 360.

Deaths reported in the past week • 12.

Salt Lake County reported five deaths, including a woman age 45-64, a man and two women ages 65-84 and a man age 85 or older.

Three Utah County residents were reported to have died, all of them men. Data shows they ranged in age from 25-44, 65-84 and 85 or older.

Davis County reported the death of a boy, 1-14 years old, as well as a woman, age 65-84.

A Cache County woman, age 85 or older, and a Washington County woman, age 65-84, also reportedly died.

Hospitalizations reported this week • As of Thursday, 118 Utahns were hospitalized with COVID-19, four fewer than the previous week. There were 17 patients in intensive care Thursday, five fewer than last Thursday.

Percentage of positive tests • Counting all test results, including repeated tests of the same individual, 12.6% of the tests conducted came back positive, compared with 13.29% at this point last week.

When repeated tests on the same individual are not counted, 16.23% of the tests administered yielded positive results, down from 16.64% the previous week.

Totals to date • 1,034,616 cases; 5,001 deaths; 38,313 hospitalizations.

Anyone get the second booster shot.

Folks want it back to normal so badly....

:smh: :smh: :smh: :smh: :smh: :smh:

Got mine Friday with the Flu shot..a tad lethargic but not much reaction. Went to an event in the City..only folks with masks on were the older Asians and me and my date.. everyone else was like fuck this..a couple of folks were coughing and sneezing. That mask shit annoys me but it is a mild inconvenience for not getting sick.

Anyone get the second booster shot.

Got it this past Monday afternoon at one of the local pharmacies. No issues.

The clientele we deal with at work are primarily 60 - 80yo. They're all boosted, and we do our part too in keeping them safe. Our staffing are 21 to early-60s.

Did a supplies count recently and got my coworker to place a reorder of cleaning supplies with Planet Clean. We have been dealing with them for years for our workplace. Glad our workplace has limited numbers of people.
