These states are looking at the Omicron virus stats, seeing that transmission and deaths are low.
Also, the Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years surge is dwindling down.
So they think the worse is over and they can lift all safety protocols.
I do recall last fall, long before Thanksgiving someone on this forum and in this thread stating that the Covid surge will diminish in February. And then the lower US states will begin to warm up in late February followed by the Northern states in March….which will lead us into Spring Break in late March and the first day of Spring….and folks getting out and about and in each other’s face….which will lead into another surge and another deadly variant/mutation of the virus….bringing on another wave of shutdowns/mask mandates and safety protocols.

Maybe I’m thinking of something else….I doubt any of that will happen……

These restrictions being lifted is purely politically driven. Elections coming up.
This is just going to be a repeat of last year. Unvaccinated people are not going to do the right thing, and with no measures in place to actually restrict them from having access to public places unmasked, It's going to be open season.
The only hope is that the percentage of vaccinated people is higher now than it was then, but that isn't necessarily true for all places.
