That true but i think most tourist stay in the tourist areas because well Brazil is still a 3rd World Country and it can be dangerous especially if you can't speak Portuguese. There were alot of tourist that were killed because there GPS made the wrong turn into the favelas.

Tourists rarely get killed in Brazil... and especially in the favela. The trafficantes don't allow that type of shit in their favela because it brings too much heat. Naw man.. the only dangerous areas are really in Zona Norte. You can go right up to Barra (and Barra is really safe).. it's just that most people are so content with the tourist areas that they never care about venture out.

dope,

any places you would suggest over bahia,
brazilian?

Recife... go to this beach called porto de galinhas. it's a really nice beach. If you're in that area during Carnaval, go to the one in Olinda. It's some traditional shit that's really cool. Another nice city up north is Natal.

The only problem with going up north is that you really need to know some portuguese because unlike Sao Paulo, Rio, or even Salvador... it's rare to run into people that speak English...

Im just takin notes now, I think Im going to start off slow.. and do costa rica...san jose then take a bus to puerto viejo...caribbean side...

then columbia the following year, then brazil..

All of that is probably much better than Brazil right now. You get way more bang for the buck in other places. Even with the real like 3 to 1, Brazil is expensive relative to other places in Latin America... like way more expensive.

Brazilians are cool though so they wouldn't really get annoyed. Not like the French and shit who act like you need to be damn near fluent to visit their country

I don't mess with Spanish speaking countries. Brazilians aren't latinos. The blacks there call themselves black. They are my peeps not Hispanics. I don't fuck with most of them.

I have dual residency in Brazil. I'm not knocking anyone. I'm just saying... like anywhere, you don't meet the best looking women in tourist traps just like you wouldn't meet them in your city in the tourist trap areas. So I can tell you that without a doubt that people who just go there for a couple of weeks and stay in tourist areas and don't speak Portuguese are dealing with the bottom of the barrel women. A really beautiful woman with her shit together wouldn't get caught dead in any of the spots that tourists frequent in Rio for the fear of being labeled.

Most of the chicks I see getting posted in the Brazil threads on here are busted by Brazilian standards... well if not busted 6s at best. Back when I was single, I could have taken people to some places that would have blown their minds.

My friend runs a Carnaval Bloco in Rio... man.. some of the women (mainly from the Samba schools) at some of his parties were ridiculous.

The girls in the terms, club help, etc are overrated....but most people don't know that because they never get out of that scene.

How'd you get dual residency in Brazil cause I may want that.

What do you like about Floripa over Rio and Sao Paolo?

It's an Island-city with beaches, a big ass warm-water lake in the middle, sand dunes, mountains, forest, etc... it's a lot cleaner than Sao Paulo and Rio... and has more of an American feel to it with the type of houses and stuff... women are top flight but it's just not enough black women there because the south is more European. It's the place that most people from Rio say they would like to live if they had to leave Rio...

Doesn't the racism get worse in the southern part of Brazil? Or does being a gringo minimize that even there?

My theory has always been this (having traveled all over the world): The more black people there are the more racist an area is (as long as black people are the minority) because the media + whites can blame all their problems (employment, crime, etc) on black people. There are exceptions to the rule (Argentina because they killed most of their black population). So I don't think the South is more racist than the rest of Brazil (at least the parts I've been).

Interesting theory...have thought that myself at times but lacked the travel experience to test it...makes a lot of sense...I was going off some stuff I have seen in forums but you know Brazil much better than me....I think certain parts of the US may be exceptions to the theory as well as I have heard Montana, Idaho, Dakotas etc are very racist

Yeah. America is a different case altogether because the founding of the country is based on racism so you can't escape it here.. racism is just too deeply woven into everything here.

This is a simple breakdown of Rio:

If you're black American they're gonna think you're Brazilian. They're gonna speak Portuguese to you. You can download the app called Translate to easily communicate. Stay away from Favelas cause it's not a tourist spot. Go to the malls, sex clubs, downtown, Lapa, Sugarloaf/Christ Redeemer(false image) statue, etc. Copacabanna has a lot of English speakers. I felt no threat at all but keep an eye on your phone when using it at night. You can use uber to get around cheaply. You can sex two supermodels at once at the sex club, wash up and eat there.

Expedia/Priceline has the best prices for flight or you may have skymiles to use.

If you don't want a package you can use Airbnb and find cheap air conditioned apartments or homes for cheap.

Use uber for cheap like 2.50 to 7.00 to to places like the mall. That's all I used to get around.

Use your credit card and their Brazilian money is converted to us currrncy. You can also exchange for Brazilian money.

All you need is a passport and visa. For visa go to Brazilian consulate in your city or go online if there isn't one.
