Netflix: Cloverfield 3 (2018) Movie Discussion Thread.. Shit Drops Tonight after Game!!

They are connected but not connected at the same time...

This movie makes a lot of sense when you think about the first two movies but it also adds some questions that I can’t wait to talk about. Anybody saying this movie is trash is crazy. Movie is tight.... but to say anything about it spoils it. I’m going to give Kats a day before I go full discussion on my interpretation of the ending and why I DONT Think that thing at the end was related to Cloverfield 1.

Yeah I just don't understand the critics on this one...

It had some legit things that I haven't seen in Science Fiction... Like the Woman stuck in the wall, the arm, the Worms inside dude.... It was what you would expect if you randomly ended up in a another version of Earth. Shit got weird.

I also wonder if that Show Counterpart on STARZ will take some concepts from this movie.

I dont understand. Shit was trash. It wasn't event horizon. It wasn't even the original Cloverfeild.

It wasn’t supposed to be. It was supposed to be science fiction movie. Each cloverfield covers a different genre.

Monster, suspence, science fiction, and last one is supernatural.

Didn't care for it but more intrigued with Netflix just really putting there balls on the table with content. WHY DID I NOT BUY way back when..... Netflix has the game on lock.

Plan on watching it tonight after dinner with the kids.

Im a big fan of the first one, and want to seee how this one connects with 10 Cloverfield Lane.

IMO they shouldve just cut it off at the part where dude was shouting "TELL THEM NOT TO COME BACK!!!" and saved that big reveal till a after-credits scene..

Not with the annoying way NETFLIX tends to cut credits to go into another program these days.
I felt it worked just fine.
Ava's husband, Micheal at Mission Control made it all the more chilling.

In regards to that scene,
I really want to ask a question.
But I want to wait until others have seen it.

funny thing is that it was filmed back in 2016 but they didn't think it was good enough to release in theaters.... so it was just rotting on the shelf

netflix probably got it for cheap

Thats the thing that most people don't know...

This movie was originally titled "The God Particle" and was shot in 2016. After poor reviews and feedback from critics and test audiences they decided to re-brand it and sell it to netflix for distribution. They used the "Cloverfield" name and re-shot all the earth scenes to make it "tie into the 1st Cloverfield", then came the marketing machine pushing it as a Cloverfield Prequel. Adding to that, this is the same thing they did with "10 Cloverfield Lane" they shot a movie called "The Cellar" which was about John Goodman's paranoia and all the stuff that happened in the beginning and in the bunker. Then they decided to slap "Cloverfield" branding on it and changed the ending and viola.

Interestingly enough, the original movie "Cloverfield" was the code name for the movie while in production, it had another name as well, but it changed so much they kept the code name which is the exit JJ Abrams takes to get to his office in Santa Monica.

There is another movie coming out called "Cloverfield Overlord" which is gonna be more of the same. This shit is taking the Insidious/Conjuring approach where they come up with ideas for movies and just slap a franchise name on it and try and make it tie in...shits silly.

This movie was well cast, well acted, and well shot...just not a real Sequel or Prequel to Cloverfield and thats what messes it up. If they didn't try and force the Cloverfield shit it prolly woulda had a dope ending.

It was an interesting movie. I didn't like the original Cloverfield. I did like the Lane one. I dug this one but the execution was off just a tad. Not a bad effort at all and raised some interesting questions

Event Horizon is still top 3 Sci-Fi movies for me you can @ me if you want to

Seems like they had an average sci fi movie and decided hey we can do a few reshoots and make this part of the cloverfield universe. That's how the cloverfield lane joint felt too.
It's was ok.
Reminded me of Life. Average sci fi set in space where smart people make bad decisions.

I still remember people seeing that teaser thinking that it was going to be a live-action Voltron movie :roflmao2: They mis-heard that offscreen voice that said "I saw it ,it's alive,it's huge!" as "I saw it,it was a LION,it's huge!!!!"

I can’t even mess with page 3 of this thread. 15 min into the movie and mofos can build that space station but haven’t built up solar and wind!?!?!

Oh well, this is science fiction so I’ll be quiet.

That was one of the better “straight to DVD” movies I’ve seen in a long ass time.

@largebillsonlyplease bro, completely agree. Event Horizon was and is the shit. That’s a movie that would be great and creepy to see at a Dolby atmosphere theater.
