Two men in their late teens were killed in separate fatal shootings on the city's South Side, Chicago police said this morning.
The first slaying occurred at about 9 p.m. Tuesday in the 6900 block of South Princeton Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood, police said.
Authorities discovered the 18-year-old victim unresponsive on the street with a gunshot wound to the torso, police said. Early reports stated that the victim was gunned down as he rode a bicycle, police said.
The victim, Joseph Coleman, of the 13000 block of South Evans Avenue, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Police were investigating whether an area gang conflict may be responsible for shooting, authorities said.
The second slaying occurred on the front porch of a home in the 8100 block of South Ingleside Avenue in the East Chatham neighborhood at about 11:30 p.m., according to police.
The 19-year-old victim was chatting with his girlfriend and several others on the porch when the gunman approached and shot the victim multiple times before fleeing, police said.
That victim, Muhammed Kebbeh, of the 5800 block of South Indiana Avenue, was rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead this morning, a medical examiner's spokeswoman said.
No arrests had been made in either shooting as Area South detectives handled both investigations.
