It looks like it will get caught in the jet stream, so it should pick up speed as it approaches land. That's a good thing.
Depends on the track at this point. I highly doubt there will be direct landfall, but it does have a chance of getting close. It will approach from the city's west side, which helps reduce some of the storm surge compared to it coming from the east.
So, as of now, N.O. is in the 100-mile shift zone from west to east of being nothing or shitty, respectively. We'll know more once the storm starts its track toward Louisana.
The storm is being sheared some and lost some of its structure. However, it's expected to become a hurricane still, but not as intense as I initially thought.

We are at peak season. Hurricanes are notorious for coming in fierce in the Gulf. Will be keeping a lookout.

The GFS and ECMWF models are hinting at something major developing in the gulf next week. It’s way too early, but when both models agree, then it’s something to take notice of.
I find it truly amazing how major systems can start in the gulf…
