Poles mentioned we'd see some college coaches during the interview process.
Considering that this brother has NFL experience-Ravens RB coach from 2014-18, would interviewing him be a batshit idea?

Bruh my choices are Ben Johnson or Vrabel. My 3rd choice would be Flores. But you right, they are interviewing guys you know they ain't going to hire. They bet not fuck this up.. Lol
Those 2 guys have the ability to pretty much choose where they want to go. So the team needs to have their bases covered if those 2 decide to take a job elsewhere. Mike Kafka is a ridiculous "candidate".

Can you imagine if they hired Kafka? There would be pitchforks in the streets of Chicago lol. Remember they interviewed 10 OC's and ended up with Waldron.. Smh lol This is why I don't trust them.

I saw an article saying that he and Poles know each other from KC and that Poles may be doing it to help Kafka's profile in league circles. I don't like that but I'd prefer that over him being a viable candidate.
If they interviewed 4 or people and didn't get Johnson or Vrabel everyone would be pissed so there's that. All we want is for them to get it right. Of course there's some people who we would be pissed about from jump like Kafka or McCarthy

According to some BGOL Giant fans, they werent impressed with their OC.
He would be Nagy/Waldron 2.0 all over again.

But seriously y'all I think Vrabel is going to NE and Ben Johnson is going to Jacksonville
If that happens, who yall 3rd or 4th choices?

My issue is they're interviewing people who aren't even in charge of good offenses...Arthur Smith, Arizona dude :smh:

Plus they're saying that they have 30 people on some of these zoom calls.

The league telling you who the top guys are but yet the Bears interviewing a 1000 people.. Smh! This shit ain't rocket science. Hire Ben Johnson dammit.. Lol

I understand interviewing some of the people, because it's gathering information. Like Pete Carroll, but some of these seem like a waste of time.

Relax. As long as we're interviewing the main candidates, there's no harm in also interviewing others in the meantime as well.

I guarantee you if they had only interviewed two or three people, there would still be folks talking about "they ain't casting a wide enough net, they learned nothing from their past coaching searches". I know there's a lot of criticisms of management, but let's pick our battles here.

Also remember that in the end, the candidate gets to choose where HE wants to be or not be.

Ben Johnson has his pick of jobs so it's not that simple. And they probably can't hire him for several weeks. They better have their ducks in a row in case he decides not to take the job.

Interviewing 20 people?

You start forgetting the interviews after a minute

Plus having 50 people sitting in on the interview, it looks a type of way. It makes it looks like you're not serious. It's just like how they later talked about how they flew in Dan Campbell coach last time when Flus was hired.

I'm sure they have their top two, maybe three guys in mind that they would really like to hire. But if those guys end up not coming for some reason, then you're going to want to have as many other decent Plan B options to choose from as possible. And you can only get that information by talking to as many people as you can.

And the ones that you remember the most, are the likely favorites and best options.

In any case, probably best to just not let the process drive you crazy. Let's see who we end up with and take it from there.

These college coaches, David Shaw and these offensive coordinators of sorry offenses don't matter. What information can they give you? You would want Arthur Smith as our offensive coordinator, much less our head coach?

Nah to Arthur Smith, some of the other Plan B candidates I don't really mind. After the last two regimes here, I can see the value in picking the brains of a wider net to get a better idea of what a pro coaching staff is really supposed to look like in order to win this league.

Also like I said if the main candidates don't come for some reason, it'll be good to have interviewed as many quality options as possible to be able to pivot to... and not be caught flat-footed and have to start from zero.

Teams develop a reputation.

We aren't thought of positively with the McCaskey's. Poles and Warren are supposed to be changing things. The culture. This doesn't help.

You're not wrong. But, I'm willing to wait it out and base it on the results, not the optics or perception.

Todd Monken. Hes been around for around for years. Success in college and in the pros as an OC. He's on the list of interview requests.

As crazy as it is Ben Johnson going to Jacksonville would mean that he chose a team with an even worse owner than the Bears. Same for going to Vegas

Arthur Smith was the last decent OC that Vrabel had in Tennessee. After Smith left the offense started to go downhill and then it fell off a cliff once they traded AJ Brown

One of my issues is that you're having all these zoom interviews with people who could interview in person.

It puts you behind another team already.
