One of my issues is that you're having all these zoom interviews with people who could interview in person.

It puts you behind another team already.
I don't think some coaches can interview in person until they are out of the playoffs. I know coaches like Pete Carroll who isn't with a team can interview in person. I think a lot of teams are doing zoom calls. I'm with you though, I'd prefer the in person interviews as well.

Yeah, but more than half of their coaches can.

I understand it perfectly with Brady or Ben Johnson.

but we're having so many zoom meetings you can't devote time to in person....plus so many people are involved I wonder how involved and detailed the interview actually is.

That wide net might have us like musical chairs without a chair.

I read somewhere today that they want to interview Marcus Freeman.

Apparently they're interviewing Ron Rivera in person today which will satisfy half of the Rooney rule

Add the Packer OC Adam Stenavich to the list as the Bears have requested the opportunity to interview him for the head coaching job. Prior to this he was the Packers offensive line coach and run game coordinator.

I have no idea what they are doing at this point. I don't have a good feeling about this at all. Smh!

Looks like they'll be talking to this new guy, McCarthy, Freeman if he's open to the job and Flores barring any other additions like Kellen Moore

The rule is that they can't do an in person interview with anyone who is currently under contract to a team until after the divisional round of the playoffs

"I have never seen anything like this in all my life," Wannstedt told David Haugh and Mike Mulligan during his regular spot on their show.

There are almost as many people doing the interviews as there are people being interviewed. This is what bothers Wannstedt.

"I've been involved in a lot of coaching searches, and maybe I'm in the dark ages because I want to run the ball and nobody thinks you run the ball anymore in the NFL and that's fine," Wannstedt told WSCR. "You know, go ahead, maybe I'm in the dark ages because when I interviewed with the general manager, him and I looked each pther in the eye, we wet through everything that I thought I had to have to win, he laid out the plan (of) what they could and couldn't do on their end and then if he liked it he went back and talked to the owner and I went in and met with the owner and they offered me the job."

They even brought up a good point how it also makes you look cheap. This is after Dan Quinn had to fly coach last hiring cycle.

I even saw an article where one of the interviewees off the record said he was a little shocked by the process

We got rid of our coach what, five or six weeks ago....why don't we seem more advanced in the process :dunno:

I hope it's not like the last cycle, where they're also interviewing for potential coordinators and they push someone on to the new coach. That's what they did with Thomas Brown and Waldron. Waldron saw what it was, and didn't even give Thomas Brown much responsibility, because he wasn't his own. And are you going to get quality coaches forcing staff on them?
