My cousin spent the 70's & 80's researching, There was no internet back then. We have several family lines all going back to one woman sold at the Fayetteville slave market ( we have a copy of the bill of sale ) in 1814, she was brought to Chatham County. Where we still have property.
All the paperwork , info, pictures were organized into book form, Bill Clinton was sent a precopy. He wrote on white house paper the book's forward about how good that families stick together. That letter is in the front of the book. There were 2,000 copies printed, We paid $30 for our copies, back in 1995, I have two. This was not something googled in 30 seconds. It took 20+ years in Libraries, looking at microfiche etc. Lots of travel across the state, getting court records, lots of effort

That’s still undecided. The task force is not expected to produce a detailed proposal outlining specific recommendations for reparations until July 2023. Then the California Legislature must pass those recommendations in a new law approved by the governor to take effect
