Both Prometheus and Covenant was crap. Not been a decent Alien film since Aliens.
Okay I went back and watched the scene from Alien when they bring dude back on the ship with the hugger on his face. During the exam, dude asked the android what's that down his throat? The android replies I suggest that's feeding him oxygen. Of course, this is before they find out what else it did after attachment.
To be fair, the company was always hiding shit. In the first one, they didn't tell anyone about alien except the android. In the second one, they claimed they didn't know about any aliens. When Burke did suspect that Ripley's story is true, he didn't tell anyone. In the third one, all the witnesses from the second one die and the ones that survived on the prison planet wasn't going to be able to tell anyone. In four, they were doing experiments on a top secret base so the general public weren't going to find out about the aliens. If you want to count the last two, again all the witnesses get killed and the company wasn't going to tell anyone how.
