Dunno if you mentioned it previously, but is she working? Because if so, that's a perfect place/opportunity for some dude to be her shoulder to cry on. I've been that shoulder before, its easy to get to a female thats in an unhappy relationship.

She was staying at home for a while before, but she just got a new job a few months ago. The last job she had before that was as a hotel as a receptionist I think and she would come in late on weekends and week nights. That was a few years back, I just kept my mouth shut about what I thought during that time.
