I've heard of the lonelygirl15 did you have anything to do with that? I never watched it though. I wanna try with some small maybe 5-10 minute movies first see what I can pack into a small scene or series.

Most of those female heroine movies were trash save Kill Bill. The stories were trash and predictable and the action was lame. They were just too PG and hollywood is pushing all these PG movies to get as many people to the movie as possible. I don't think men mind seeing women kick ass (I know I dont) as long as the fighting is done right.

I'll look into that. Latino audience is an overlooked audience but that was fast & furious it already had a big franchise following and with the return of Vin Diesle and Paul Walker it was sure fire. Calderon played very little part in the movie. I can't think of any movies off top with Latino led cast or protagonist that do well in the box office. Haven't notice many latino project like that. Do white people watch many latino movies in theatres?

But that's a demograph to tap into.

As far as the latino demographic goes, there are tons of spanish speaking films with an all latin cast that generate very respectable box office and do even better in other formats such as DVD, Blu-Ray, etc. as well as syndication in all the spanish speaking countries. Don't underestimate how much money a latin film will generate. It's a market these demons are ignoring, but trust me, it's there.

Check out some Pedro Almodovar films.

I'm sure it'll do well in spanish speaking countries I was just referring to state wide. But yeah I'm definitely not going to ignore them with all the spanish speaking countries out there.

Even statewide you have to recognize the whole world loves films! In the States, there are millions and millions of latins who all go to the movies like everyone else. It seems like common sense, but you'd be surprised how many industry people ignore that, mostly due to what I've come to call "well-meaning" racists. Cac's who don't even know they're racist and think they aren't.

I'm just a cat on the outside trying to get in. Lonelygirl15 was a video blog on youtube about a teenage girl that drew a big following. She turned out be an actress, but the writers were able to get a lot of exposure from it.

The same dudes writing scripts for male heroes are writing for women. Kurt Wimmer wrote Equilibrium and Ultraviolet. Mark Steven Johnson wrote Daredevil and Elektra. They obviously know how to write action. Not trying to say that Ultraviolet and Elektra are great movies, but it seems like audiences (men and women) are more willing to accept men in those types of stories.

There isn't a Latino Will Smith or Tyler Perry yet. Hollywood hasn't figured out how to do a big movie (or TV show) with a predominantly Latino cast, but some understand how important the audience can be to a film's success even if they aren't the primary target. F&F is a mainstream movie, but Latinos who only make up 14% of the population were 40% of the first weekend audience  Pay attention to that! There'll be a huge Latino turnout for Transformers as well. And like someone mentioned, there's a big spanish speaking audience outside the states and they're open to different genres (comedy is a little tricky because sometimes the jokes don't travel). Black movies have a hard time outside the US so it's a good idea to make your scripts more marketable.

Share it here. What was it like? Any insight you can give us good or bad is useful.

Well...it is a lot of pressure. At this point in my career I rarely get "staffing" gigs, although I am currently EP on a show now, but my money now comes from pitching shows. That my friend is a lot of work.

Google will pay $15,000 for your TV and movie script.

Google would like to see if there were more movies about computer sciences that weren’t the stereotypical nerd movie. Are you an aspiring screenwriter? Do you want to work for Google? If so, Google will actually pay you to write a movie script.

Google is teaming up with The Black List and will grant up to $15,000 for three people to write three scripts. Google is looking for one movie script and two TV pilots that will change the nerd cliché of computer scientists and scientists. This is part of a Google initiative to bring women and people of color into computer science. So, these movies and TV shows are probably going to be more diverse than a typical 1930s drama.

The submission process starts now and ends July 15th with the lucky grant winners getting their money in the fall. The grant winners will keep the rights to their script, but they will also have to explain to Google how they spent the $15,000 to create the script.

as fast as shows being cancelled these days..its much safer to do scripts for web-based shows  or for video games(which ive been leaning towards)
