Man, I lost it and got emotional aka greedy :hmm::fuckyousay::angry:

I closed my last 2 trades at 50% profit and then I opened a new AEX call spread at 440/445 OKT 15 call spread (risked 349 to get 112 euro) on Sept. 26th

Everything went good I was up 60 % in profit.
I should have managed and close the trade from ROI perspective
But I was greedy and I wanted the last 40%. And now I'm down 220 :smh:

I need to become more mechanical

Or you can DIY but you will have to invest time in learning how things work.
I learned most from Investopedia.com, seekingalpha.com, Youtube, BGOL and several investing Courses which I downloaded.

Do you want to trade for the long term or short term. ?
One long term strategy you might consider is Dividend Growth Investing.
Growth is slow but steady. An example can be found here.

If I can survive the coming 3 months trading options with a profit I'll post a complete investing course.

What's up with that course tho, homie?

(Mainly quoted for reference)

Efkie, where you suggest I start? Investopedia.com?

Investopedia is a good place to understand and learn the lingo.
Open a paper trade and start trading.

Also check out the post below.

I check the following YT channels regularly

When it comes to option knowledge: Tastytrade
They explain all the lingo, all the strategy's, Return on Capital, risk assessment etc.

When it comes to APPLYING that knowledge aka realtrading I learned a lot from the Frenchman Mark Nicolas of daytradingzones.
He gives away so much information in his free webinars that I haven't even heard on Tastytrade.
Things like how to structure your position/ how to defend it when your trade gets tested.
Watch Mastering the credit spread part 1 and 2 a couple of times

Another option trader that I follow is Nick Fenton of TickerTank.
He has very good howto videos about option strategies like Iron Condors, Short Strangles and Naked Put selling.

When you have a basic understanding go PAPERtrade for free with live data for a couple of months to see how everything works.

Don't stay on the simulation forever otherwise you'll get too confident.

Basically I made an assumption that the market(AEX) would not reach the 460-465 but would stay below the 460 until expiration of the option.
For taking this risk (going short) I received premium. This means that my position has to go to zero.
At this moment this is not case so I'm down on my current position.

More info can be found here

slowly but surely we getting there

Looking good

Damn I lost 177 euro at today's option expiration :(
I must learn how to defend these positions.

Been thinking about investing more in the years ahead. Market's been so shaky ... got most of my retirement savings (RRSP) in a balanced portfolio with 3 key mutual funds. Plenty of losses this past year, so I was glad to see it gain $1000 last statement.

About a decade ago I lost a few grand on a Palladium Mining Company that a few posters on here were raving about. Their logic made sense, I had money and kept throwing some in on it. In the end I lost a few grand and said i'll never play stocks again. That said, I currently have a supplemental 401K that i'm only getting a little over 1% on. I realize i'm losing money on it thru inflation. What is a solid mutual fund I can put it into? Maybe I can use a small percentage on individual stocks as well.

with the way the markets have been, i don't even know if there is such a thing as a solid mutual fund.

don't feel too bad, inflation was nearly zero this year so you didn't lose anything last year. With the interest uptick, expect it to rise back to around 3%. Mutual funds are shakier than a bootleg camera in a Crenshaw theatre. If you're going to invest, you gotta take some lumps. Is this house money for a house or play money? If you're going to need this money, put it in a short term cd or high savings online.
