Damn that's big boy status investment money per share. Any suggestions for us broke folk trying to climb the ladder?

x = 100 shares at $10 = $1000

y = 2 share at $500 = $1000

10% increase of x = 10% increase of y

The thing about amazon is that next year will be an even bigger year than this year.

google the Accenture & Amazon AWS partnership

AWS is already crushing the cloud market, next year that will only accelerate as companies adopt more hybrid cloud solutions.

This is my bread and butter so I'm in the front lines of this stuff.

If you go back to my investing threads, I have been saying continually to buy AMZN for the last few years prob every few months.

next year will be even more epic than this year

I would luv to invest in Amazon right now but they're just under $700/share and I don't have that bread on me to invest in multiple shares for them :(

Ok, I understand :(

facebook is also a great stock

They are crushing mobile as a platform, they are doing some of the most important work in the field of deep learning and neural networks and are going to launch VR using Oculus next year.

VR/AR is poised to be the next breakthrough I/O device

well well well, fellas, any ideas for the new year?

I've been skimming trough that Anton Kreil professional investing course (I'm halfway) and he came with some things I didn't know.
  • Try to predict market conditions with a time Horizon of 1 to 3 months ahead.
  • Check the PMI figures on a monthly basis to figure out which sectors (stocks ideas) are hot and which are not.
  • Combine this a view of Global GDP and then GDP per continent (US, EU and CHINA)
For experienced investors this isn't anything new, but for me it explains how things are connected.
Lot's of stuff to think about

I think 2016 will be a sideways market.

What are your thoughts on getting LinkedIn stock? I know it's more than double the per share cost of Facebook but just curious.

Linkedin is just ok.

Most of the growth has occurred already.

Developers do NOT like Linkedin as they keep changing their APIs.

Linkedin is trying very hard to keep their data to themselves and in turn control who could do what.

That is not a path to growth.

e.g. Tinder uses fb and is growing based on fb data

Linkedin is trying though.

They tried Pulse, it was good then they started spamming with sponsored content.

They are struggling right now to create new streams of revenue.

So it's not the ideal to invest in for fast growth.

Steady slow grow is their forecast as they work to figure things out.

Research Atlassian (TEAM). Zero debt, high growth. Think of them as a bootleg Salesforce.

Also speaking of the cloud, believe it or not MSFT has made me 30% since I invested 4 months ago. Not only is Win 10 gaining traction, but their Azure platform is second only to AWS.

What bout Netflix? Their stock has been on the rise all year. Do you think they've already reached their peak or is there still room for growth?

Anybody planning to jump in tomorrow in hopes of making a few bucks on an upswing? The last time I tried that the market went down even further. I'll see what the pre-market is looking like in the morning.

I'm thinking about gettin in on Amazon. It dropped almost 6% for the day. Looking to get it low ahead of what should be killer earnings.

I've been eyeing Netflix and Amazon and with the drop today I'm tempted. But I think Im going to wait. They dropped pretty quick and Im kind of interested in seeing how bad it may get. I bought a few more apple shares when it started dropping a few weeks back, but then it continued to drop a few dollars a share so I learned my lesson.

But you never know, sometimes they bounce back up the next day. U never can tell.

don't feel too bad, inflation was nearly zero this year so you didn't lose anything last year. With the interest uptick, expect it to rise back to around 3%. Mutual funds are shakier than a bootleg camera in a Crenshaw theatre. If you're going to invest, you gotta take some lumps. Is this house money for a house or play money? If you're going to need this money, put it in a short term cd or high savings online.
High savings online? I'm not familiar.

I'm looking to get in the game, but there are restrictions as to what I can invest in through my job, basically the larger depository and non-depository institutions. Along with other 'larger participants'. However, I need to invest money sitting in my savings, at the very minimum into a short-term CD.

High savings are online banks rather than traditional banks that are convenient but don't pay. Why is your job regulating your savings? Are you talking about your 401k?

Any recommendations on these banks? My job doesn't regulate my savings, but restricts my investing in certain companies. I would have to go through too many hurdles and then be recused from working on those companies.

Is that legal? So many ways around that though ie handing money for a spouse to invest. Anyway, citi, alliance, and ally have better rates but customer service is shitty. If you just tucking money into savings you should be fine. There's no overdraft, missed checks etc like a checkings account.
Only real safe play besides CDs and that's if you won't need the money soon. Treasuries and bonds were cool until the interest rate went up. You could also invest in insurance I suppose. Most of what's safe now doesn't even match inflation that's due to rise.

I am not even looking at the market, but that Twitter dun went to under $20 a share down from $70.

Even though it's not the hot social media network, it can't stay at this price...
