Portfolio: ROKU, MSFT, APPL, FB, NBEV, CPST, CLSD, QCOM, SPOT, SQ, TWTR, PYPL, GE...and FOCPX, FLGEX, FBGRX. The market is cyclical, up's and down's just like anything else.

This thread could be much more valuable than the crypto thread but we need more participation.

$TSLA finally bounced back and will be the next big runner.

it's been a minute fellas.
summary:
was up last year around september by about $55k, got greedy and bought TLRY. got burned. and then October came and all my options on stocks like CVS, AAPL, and i can't even remember who else i had, expired.
scrounged up $18,000 of what was left of my portfolio and bought 100 January 2019 $30 call options for ARWR @ 1.80 each and also 3000 regular shares. this was around november of last year. this is how i stand now. knock on wood no bad news happens in the next few weeks. really wanna wait till january to cash out my ARWR options, for tax purposes.

I did pretty good with Q3 earnings. Bet people would still be spending money and they are

If you missed on Apple and Disney, keep an eye on Target. They report next week and should jump too

how u figure that? hep B is a serious disease. over 1.4 million in the states alone and over 300 million worldwide. it is on the same level as HIV even worse because there are more people living with Hep B than HIV. they're all burdens on health care costs and insurance companies will pay whatever they have to pay to get a person of maintenance meds with a one time cure

yo simon where you at? you still feel the same way from 4 years ago?

I have a feeling January 2020 might be a volatile month.
I scaled back on a few positions

Impressive!
What are your key indicators for deciding which biotech / pharma companies to invest in?

What are your key indicators for deciding which biotech / pharma companies to invest in?

to be honest with you, ARWR is the first main biotech that i have invested in very heavily. i have invested in GILEAD in the past as well. i am a pharmacist by trade so i mean if i am looking at the potential products that a company is working on, i might have a sense or an idea of whether there will be a big market for it or even if whatever they're working on a big deal. that being said, i must add a disclaimer. i don't invest in biotechs a lot. ARWR came across my desk a couple years ago because i heard one word "HEPATITIS B"...and i immediately thought about what a HEP C cure did for GILEAD. made them billions. so i figured if ARWR is able to come up with a cure for HEP B, (and bear in mind, they were the only ones that supposedly were working on it at the time)...so i figured, why not invest in them? fast forward to a few years later, they seem to have hit a sweet spot with a special way of coming up with potential cures for not just HEP b but a plethora of other maladies. so, with allllllll of that being said, lemme address your real question. what i have learned these past year to a year and half as far as whether to decide to invest in a biotech are these:
1) is whatever they're working on something that's gonna be ground breaking?
2) where in the pipeline are they? phase 1? 2? 3?
3)how many candidates do they have in the pipeline? the more the better, since as you are aware, out of maybe 7 drugs, only 1 or two might work. so the more the better the odds of the company hitting a jackpot

so that's about it bro

another stock that i have heard could potentially explode, AUPH. A colleague of mine told me to buy some about 4 weeks ago. i was busy with work. didn't get the chance to do my research. woke up one day and it had shot up over 100 percent. i think my buddy made about $150 on it overnight. he still thinks it has room to grow though. they're in the sickle cell space. as always, do your due diligence before buying

you like the bios? Keep a look out on the IPO $MNPR. Opened at $8 and shot to $45 before settling at $30. I think it’ll run hard once the big boys return from their holiday beach trips since it is low float.

I’m familiar with $AUPH but from my experience, with most bios, sell (including short) on news and buy on rumors

The bad news is that maybe I should have held on to my TSLA - less than a month and it's already up another 20%. I correctly predicted the end of year selloff to close 2019 portfolios (volume has been CRAZY) but I honestly did not anticipate so many people wanting to immediately jump on the 2020 bandwagon. :curse:

The good news (hopefully) is that I'm going all in on Beyond Meat (BYND) - just bought a ton this week @ ~75/share. This "plant based" craze isn't about to subside, and their main rival Impossible Burger just this week ended negotiations to try and supply McDonald's because they admit that would not be able to keep up with the possible demand.

Beyond is already selling a sausage product to Dunkin Donuts and Burger King, meanwhile McDonald's just this week started testing the "McP.L.T." in Canada and KFC just finished testing a fake chicken product in Atlanta. If either of those products launches nationwide - and Beyond is able to keep up with demand (that's the one big *IF*) - I expect this stock to SKYROCKET!

Today I sold off all of the Tesla stock @ ~405 that I bought in September @~220.
Gonna take a break from daily hawking the market until the year-end dust settles.

Good call on that beyond meat.
