This is an excellent video to watch.

I had to subscribe to dude's channel...and I'm gonna watch this a few times. He has a different approach, but I like how he broke it down.

Shit almost had me drop $500 for one.

I intentionally stay outta music stores...I'd spend a grip up in there ...and the store they're in is in my area.

Good info on buying used guitars... especially since I buy mostly used ones.

I've been resisting the urge to get a new ax, but that shit is like crack with me.

I want either an all white or sea foam Strat or a Jimmy Page Les Paul, next....and an acoustic. Plus I need a flying V... preferably Gibson, and a standard Tele.

Man it's so much fun. Especially when I realized I nailed Use me. Plus I'm starting to make my own sounds with the G and C Chords. I particularly love the E Minor and G Chords. So rich with sound.

"Use Me" is one of my favorite joints! I actually did some work for a lady who was Bill Withers' first cousin. She was a vocalist instructor and used to perform back in the day.

Scott Devine is having a 26 week technique course on playing bass where he will be interacting with people live throughout the course. He does it once a year giving specific techniques to practice 30 minutes a day to take your bass playing to the next level. It's $197 but really worth it. Course starts Aug 12th but enrollment will close in a few days. Here's Scott teaching the slap technique. He's very good

Mannnn, I was just wondering how everyone's progress was going.

I KNOW you loving that bass, bruh...that course sounds nice!

I've been playing now for about a year and a half and haven't slowed down one bit.

Bruh, I found a KILLER DEAL on a Fender amp on Offer Up...if folks aren't taking advantage of used deals, they're totally missing the boat!

Yeah, there's some really good deals out there. I'm doing very well on my scales and arpeggios on the guitar too. All Up and down the neck. Doing much better with alternate picking too. Barre chords sound very nice as well.

Mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, im swamped, but I saw this and had to stop…

I Think it may be different for bass players, but my problem is when I learned to play, I didn’t hold the pick properly. Now, I’m tryna break ANOTHER bad habit…
Yeah. That's a little tricky too. I'm doing very well with my scales and arpeggios too.

@jack walsh13, I saw someone earlier talking about those types of picks that go around your thumb. I'ma try that and see if that works.

Actually, it wasn't a problem, til I saw how you're supposed to hold it...and I was doing it differently.

@DWBass Hey Bass, trying to learn Slapping on the bass. I think my strings are too high on my P Bass cause I can't get good tone Slapping the E string. I think I need the action lowered. I've had it for 6 months now. Brand new. Haven't got it serviced yet. What are your thoughts?

Not to speak on setting up a bass, but my guitar, when I was a kid, had the action set so high, I'm surprised I could play anything in it.

I've been lucky with what I've purchased recently...action is nice and low.

Yeah I'm gonna take it to get serviced at Guitar Center. They'll lower tha action and make sure the neck is straight. I get a little big more Fret buzz than I probably should when plucking too

I have a guitar to take in for service, also...

The one I learned on, a year and a half ago, had a baaaad crack in it. I fixed everything else, cosmetically, previously and wanted to keep it original, instead of modding it with upgraded parts...cuz it was one of my son's old guitars.

A few weeks ago, I got the glue and clamp to fix it...and while I was at it, try to eliminate a slight buzz from the pups.

Clamped it for 24 hours and it seems pretty solid... certainly good enough to play around the crib.

I'ma take to a luthier and have it resoldered and see what they can do with it,. There's still too much buzz, but man I love tinkering with shit like this.

Sheeeid, I keep a couple of cheap guitars just to work on em.

One I'm gonna sand and repaint and one I wanna wrap...damn vinyl skins are $90:(

That's good man. Yeah a Luthier can make sure it's gonna play the way you want. Where'd you get the vinyl skins from?

I mean...it would be different if I was tryna buy something with a buncha tech...thus a high price.

This shit is a piece of vinyl about a meter and a half size...if that.

I have a Les Paul Special in dookie brown..and scratched up. I was gonna put a cherry sun burst wrap..or chrome on it, til I saw the price.

I'll have to keep looking.

I didn't realize how much practice it takes to slap a bass, pluck...all the lil techniques, and make it do what you want...or to just keep time picking and alternate picking.

I have HOURS just fuckin around scratching back and forth, tryna get my strumming hand down.

I been tryna get Theme from Shaft intro down....kinda had it before, but stopped practicing it.

It's hardly any movement of your fingering hand, but that picking and timing of pressing the wah wah with your foot.

Needs more work..

Bruh, we be on some Ollll school shit.

I was fuckin with Betty Wright Clean Up Woman, last week...I'ma get that lil intro riff.

A crowd pleasing man.

Yeah it doesn't look that difficult from seeing some people play it. I wanna get the slide part down. I'm looking forward to working on it.

M8Eism.jpg
That slide part is the bass player hitting the strings with his palm, going from the bottom of the neck to the top. Take you hand off of the strings, use your palm to go up the neck, quickly mute the strings, and that will put your left hand in position to play the next note, being that the next note is an open E.
