When we are in better place with Covid-19, consider taking lessons from an instructor. The right instructor can help advance you quickly. The problem with some of the online course is that you are not getting feedback on bad habits you could be forming now (proper chord fingering, strumming hand movements, etc.)
Right. But trust when I say, guitar tricks literally teaches you to look for mistakes. Why your chords aren't sounding clean. They literally go over absolutely everything to look for. Any mistake you can make while playing they practically cover it. I'm telling you it's the truth. Da Walsh won't steer you wrong Kubrick. "You gotta believe in something....................why not believe in me."

I know you eventually want to play bass, but I thought you might like this and there only a few guitar lessons for "Glide" by Pleasure.

Thanks for posting this. I actually think electric will be next for me. I'll save the bass for last. Definitely wanna become proficient in all 3.

Not true. Fender app tells you exactly how to play the chords, gives you multiple angles on hand placement and they tell you the do’s and don’ts and proper playing posture. I too thought that until I started using the Fender App. Theyre pretty thorough.

Can the Fender app discern is you are consistently using alternative picking? Does the app confirm if you are keeping time?

Yes, it has a metronome for when you practice on the lesson you learned in the previous segment.

The Fender App is basically video lessons and practice. They teach you how to read chords and about time measurements too. Then you practice what you learned in the next lesson.Download the app. You get a free trial. I think you maybe able to get 3 months for free. You have to understand that playing the guitar will take time and there is no shortcuts. You have to practice, practice. Just get started and don’t look back.If you got a guitar go ahead and download the Fender App or the other many apps out there. Just play. Forget about waiting to take a lesson or an in person instructor. You could be learning right now and then when your time permits you can go to an instructor and take lessons.

I agree. Waiting for an instructor may not be the best way. Especially with this virus and everything being off schedule. They have some phenomenal apps and websites to help teach you absolutely everything about playing including troubleshooting on your own and tuning the guitar. So you don't get comfortable playing the wrong way or making muted notes. Trust me and Kirk. Give the Fender app and Guitar tricks a try.

I agree completely to not wait and take advantage of lessons. I was just saying later you should consider taking lessons from an instructor.

I have been playing guitar on and off for 10 years now. I have had instructors and used Apps, DVDs, Youtube, books. An instructor pointing out that I was not consistently alternate picking as I ran through scales helped me to be able to play funk rhythms later. I was not aware I was doing it.

Not a big deal either way. If you guys are having fun and learning on the app please continue. I was just adding a different viewpoint/

I have a fender stratocaster and I've been practicing on and off for a couple of years now. I started off playing Rocksmith on xbox 360 but then I "acquired" it for PC and got a couple hundred songs for free from customsforge.com. You make a free account and choose from thousands of free songs and talk to people on the forums there for advice. This guitar tricks website looks really good though, I will probably sign up for a month or so. The hardest part of learning for me is that I've basically been treating it like guitar hero instead of learning a real instrument. I already regret not getting a instructor. I want to focus on actually learning how to play the guitar instead of being good at a videogame

It's amazing how comfortable I'm getting with 3 string melodies. Still playing only the high end 3 strings for right now. New Melodies and finger placement is getting a lot easier now. I'm able to fully read music and play without having to lok down at the strings at all. Really impressed with my progress so far.

Currently working on 4 string melodies and I've noticed something. It's a bit easier for me right now to come up the strings than go down. I have a bit better feeling going up the strings and I rarely make a mistake. I practice without looking at the strings. I just read the music. Staying with it and loving my progress!!

I've succcesfully learned all the 5 major chords. I can play them all without nuting the strings. I've mastered the finger angles to play them all. I actually know 6 cause I learned the A Major chord as well cause I wanted to learn how to play Bill Withers "Use Me". Just the part he strums. E minor and A Major chords. Took a while to figure out the strum pattern for it but I got it down. I'll learn the beginning of the song later. Right now I'm still working in the 1st three frets. Now working on CCR's "Bad Moon Rising." Just the D, G and A chords. It's not a hard song to play, I just have to put the chords together. 5 months in and I'm really getting good at playing.

Just occurred to me, I'm a southpaw, feels awkward af .....
So am I. The only thing I do with my left hand is write and throw. I write some of my songs on guitar, but I'm a bass player. And it's never too late to pick it up. I started playing bass when I was 30, and I've been playing for 24 years. Toured half way around the world, got a lot of endorsement deals, and have a gold record hanging on my living room wall. Go for it!

Man it's so much fun. Especially when I realized I nailed Use me. Plus I'm starting to make my own sounds with the G and C Chords. I particularly love the E Minor and G Chords. So rich with sound.

@woodchuck Wood, I'm having a little trouble switching from G Chord to C Chord. I can switch from the C to the G pretty easy but my 3rd finger kinda messes me up going back to the A string on the switch back to the C
