I was hoping someone would make a post on this. Especially in regards to Diabetes.
I was diagnosed with Type 2 a few months ago. I was losing major weight for the last few years. And I was thinking more it was due to changing my diet after being diagnosed with high cholesterol some years back. But I hardly laid off the sweets. After a visit at The Mom's one day, she nagged to take my blood on one of her glucose monitor. My sugar level was 518. I basically told her "YOU'RE NO DAMN DOCTOR! STOP WORRYING!".
So after going to an actual Doctor, I not only have to take meds for Diabetes, but my cholesterol (again) and high blood pressure. The only Positives out of this is that I went down three pants sizes, and I still look twenty+ years younger. But I had to stop fooling myself and start increasing my Greens intake again. And lay off all the Ice Cream and shit. Some of You know the company I work for (if you followed the Geoffrey Owens threads). So it's taken a lot of Will-Power and Force. Especially after some setbacks I've faced over the years. Food, especially Sugar is totally seductive and addictive.
Walking has been more an active part of my program again.
Especially since I can't stand gyms.
Though with the weight loss, I would like to tone the body a bit.
I'm glad to read you're on the path to better health. It does require a healthy balance of eating and exercise. You can parlay that walking into bicycle riding as well. Also swimming is great form of exercise that doesn't abuse your joints. Whatever you chose please stay the course towards better health.
walking isnt exercise...that shit is regular everyday life you lazy muthafuckas!!!! Niggas trip me out with the pedometers tambout i took 1k steps. nigga so what, you are alive and that aint shit
This is the type of negative shit that keeps many from doing so much as getting up and taking a walk because they think it won't make a difference.
15,000-25,000 a day bad kness back and all. I feel better and my pain has decreased since I started eating and walking more. I’m recovering from surgery now but soon as I’m healthy ill be back at it again. I’m not trying to die anytime soon. Wanna send 2ONE3 a post card from Florida in a couple years when I get there for good.
I hope you have a speeding recovery.
My friend had a stroke and died in his 20s, which is what started me on researching health topics. Completely managable but people dont want to change their lifestyle.
Walking is exercise...youre probably not going to notice any muscle gains, but you will certainly lose weight. But positive things wont happen no matter how much exercise you do if you dont stop the real "bleeding".
Drink water, stop spiking your blood sugar and killing your pancreas with garbage food and get off you lazy ass to stay mobile and youre more than half way their. Diabetes is your body screaming at you that youre doing it wrong! Momz been successfully managing diabetes since she was diagnosed 40 years ago..Not even taking insulin.
I also knew someone who was a childhood friend that died at 27 from being a fatty. Ever since we were children he was a fatty. In fact he was the fat kid in the neighborhood and all through primary school. I stopped fucking with him when I saw some of the foul shit he was doing and how he was living but I won't get into that.
One day a friend of mine expressed concern about fatty and I said I'd I give him 6 months tops before he's dead. My friend was shocked I said that and he though it was cold and fucked up. I told my friend who's also friends with the fatty that there are consequences for such a love affair with sweets and snacks. The fat dude died two weeks following my statement.
Drinking water is definitely a great thing to do. I drink at least 6 glasses of water a day. More often I drink more water than that. Staying away from fried food and crap food in general is must. Exercise is key as well. That's why to those who don't think it will matter or know what they can do to make a difference I suggest at least start walking. Hopefully that walking will be the inspiration to other forms of exercise. However, walking alone isn't at all a bad thing.
I don't believe in just walking..but I sware..I got a bish or 2..that will walk yo ass til u drop..dont get that walking shit confused..brah
I don't believe in walking alone but it's way better than sitting around waiting for the circumstances that lead to joining a gym or work out plan seen on late night TV where everyone looks happy to be jumping around sweaty. I prefer to ride a bicycle rather than run. When I do run it's through the woods on softer ground. Still though just to get up and walk is not commonly done as much as folks used to.
I first noticed that in Florida. Damn near no one walked further than to the car and at malls or shopping centers. I had never seen so many fat people in my life. I'd walk for miles at a time everyday and folks would look at me like I was crazy when they heard how much I walked or where I walked to and from. The funny part was some of the people were from the islands like me and I know for a fact their asses knew walking in the sun long before they knew air conditioning and driving.
