I'll have to pushback a slight bit. Dr. Strange was very popular in the 60s and 70s. Nick Fury was as well.

Obviously tastes change over time and both were pretty much has-beens by the time the MCU started.

People saying Blue Beetle won't be popular because the comics character isn't popular- all I was saying is that when the MCU started, most of those characters weren't popular either. Marvel HAD to use their lower-tier characters because they had sold the rights to their most popular ones.

It was the movies that made them popular. Now they are household names and folks want to act like they always have been.

Didn't do much for Black Adam. Comic book movies dont have much broad appeal especially when it's some character non readers are not familiar with.

The people who did Young Justice have nothing to do with this. They didn’t even consult them.

I could see how my wording was confusing lol I meant that after seeing blue beetle come to life in young justice I've wanted a live action version. But yeah I definitely don't expect anything of the level quality wise. With that said I think the first trailer is pretty good and looks like it could be fun. Either way I'm sure James Gunn will use blue beetle going forward, he does seem like the kind of character he's a fan of using.

I understand exactly what you saying.. kickass or watchmen wasn’t household names.. kickass literally made enough money that it ended up having a sequel.. watchmen made over 100 million and now has an hbo series.. so literally if the product is great and word of mouth is great it can be a success and more movies can come. This is exactly the reason why I want dc to do more watchmen type movies cause I knew nothing of the story or characters yet the execution was great and still top 5 comic book movies made

I'm not a big comic book guy but I am a DC/Marvel character fan and Blue Beetle animated movies have always been dope. Great character.. I hope they do it justice. Trailer does look pretty good.

Not trying to be a pedantic asshole (well kinda) but how do you quantify what's a household name? Watchmen was a commercial success upon release and critically acclaimed even outside of the comic industry.

Did any of the characters in it have the same recognition as Spider-Man or Superman? Not at all. But the comic had enough of an aura of being a classic that I believe much of the public was aware of it even if they couldn't name any of the characters.

Black Adam was handled wrong and written wrong. He should've showed up in shasz first as a villian but the rocks ego got in the way. In a perfect world he would've been a straight up villian who came back from being banished to the edge of the galaxy or he wouldve been a wildcard villian who teams up with heroes when it serves his interest and h they would've used his new 52 origin were he killed his nephew and stole his powers.

That's my concern as well. I'm really looking forward to this movie and like what I know about the character so far. I've read at least 1 article that says the plan is for Blue Beetle to do for the DCU what Iron Man did for the MCU.

Where are the Happy Meal/Burger King Kids meal commercials? No toys, video games or promotional tie ins?

You would think the star of Blue Beetle is a damn criminal predator (like Ezra Miller) with the way they have made a point to not put a spotlight on this.

I find it weird since he is on what’s arguably the second biggest show on Netflix. Thought they would try to ride that Cobra Kai popularity….guess not.

Agreed. People are going to give Gunn grace for Flash and Blue Beetle. if Blue Beetle fails, as expected, he should get all the blame because he was very vocal with Flash yet very quiet with Blue Beetle.
