I enjoyed this movie. It's what we should've received from a lot of the other DC movies for story vibe and balance. If you've watched the Young Justice cartoons or the new 52 animation style Teen Titans movies then you'll be pleased with how they represented his powerset and interaction with the scarab. Didn't go over the top with the humor to the point where it was overbearing and the villain was legitimate. Definitely had rewatch value and is a good overall experience.
Agreed on the 8 out of 10 rating. Definitely an enjoyable movie with good rewatch value. You can get by without seeing the 2nd end credit scene too. Had me upset I was fighting with my bladder just to wait for that forgettable scene.

The director all ready putting down the road for the Latino excuses and using a Latino marketing angle. Should just stfu and don't kill already dismal projections. Meanwhile, Gunn is the one shot the movie in the back even though he saying this beetle will be in his universe. After that Gadot shit, people might not trust him.

When I saw that in the trailer I immediately thought of Shang Chi. This movie was a mix between a bunch of super hero movies. Black Panther, Iron Man and Iron Man 2, Shang Chi and Spiderman. I think some of the writing could have been better. There was one scene that really annoyed me and made say "who the fuck would do that? ". but I did enjoy seeing the character on screen and the transformation. The side kick villain angle was cool too. A few funny lines too, but some feel flat. I'd watch it again at home.

Unless word of mouth really comes through in the clutch, this movies is gonna bomb. There was maybe 20 ppl in the 6pm show last night. I've not seen a lot of promotion for it compared to other comic book movies and a lot of ppl are skeptical of any DC movies cuz of all the ass juice quality movies that have been released prior.
Yeah my theater was pretty empty too and I thought more would show up for the later showing, but nah. There was nobody in the lobby at all. Maybe tonight will be better.
If it weren't for Flash and all the previous DC fuck ups, I'd be looking forward to seeing this film.
Knowing DC is a dead brand though, I just don't have any excitement over this.

I thought it was to jump start Gunn's DCU but I don't know anymore. No surprise cameos either. Just a mention of Superman. I hope this is for the DCU cuz the costumes were very comic accurate.

And it ain't just Shang Chi. think about for a hot second. The ALL do it now so I can't even be MAD considering how long this movie been in the vault.
Plus - They showed WAY TOO MUCH IN THE TRAILERS.
But I'm grading this thing on a curve.
One because I love the character, I feel bad for DC, I'm a sicker for all these movies, I think we need more family friendly fare, I like the Latino spin and I really feel bad for DC.
