One thing about this movie, because of it being a "latino" movie I think people don't want to say it's mid or bad.

I'm not seeing all this good, because it's an unoriginal story that's so predictable and Susan Sarandon was a wack villain.

The shit turned in to a Justice League movie with the leader being a fat old lady.

This is ABOUT the number I expected.

But I agree this would have killed on streaming and tempered expectations and hopefully raised subscriptions too.

Yeah, I didn't think this would reach $30 mil. I can always tell by the parking lot on Thursday/Friday how it's going to do and you wouldn't have known this was a summer movie. I hadn't seen he parking lot that empty since April.

I really think it only made $25, because they had the Dolby and IMAX screens. Which should have gone to Oppenheimer, Barbie or Gran Taurismo if it kept its date. Having AMC A List, I'm always going to pick Dolby or IMAX if the time is convenient, just because.

It was empty as fuck, and I didn't see Mexicans like I thought I would. Did they have marketing issues? I mean they even had all Spanish and Spanish subtitle movies and they were empty as fuck also. This shit is going to be in the small theaters next week, because it was less than 20 people in every showing.

One thing about white people, I don't think they realize that Latinos aren't like that...a Puerto Rican, Dominican, Cuban....aren't necessarily going to support a Mexican Latino movie, because it's not really representation for them.

5/10. Mexicans certainly didn't show up for this like we did for Black Panther . My theater was half empty and it was mostly Black and white.

The first half was slow as fuck.

Plot holes left and right. Billionaire women ain't giving out numbers to wait staff .

The last 30 minutes were pretty good. The better suit was dope, and the CGI was pretty good. Most of the actors were pretty poor. George Lucas saved the movie, even if his out of nowhere engineering, piloting and programming skills were ridiculous.

They stole quite a few scenes from Black Panther (father to son speech ....).

If Lucas is in this that's the greatest surprise casting of all time.

They no longer listen to audience feedback and prefer to yell at the audience, so any latinos who tell them the truth won't be listened too. Beetle Blues

PRAISE: The most I knew about Blue Beetle over the years was the original Blue Beetles Ted Kords story arc. But I was aware that Jaime Reyes had taken up the mantle.
I had to get past a few hurdles in the movie to actually start enjoying it.
Xolo Mariduena turns in a very good performance as Reyes/Blue Beetle.
Belissa Esccobedo was pretty good as his sister Milagro actually reminding me of a young America Ferrera. George Lopez was good as his Uncle Rudy and as Jenny Kord ....Bruna Marquezine looks great in leather.
The villains in the film Victoria Kord (Susan Sarandon) and Carapax (Raoul Max have a couple of good moments especially towards the end which is tied to one of the best scenes in the movie.
Some of the Familia stuff worked. I was pleasantly shocked by a couple of things that played out in the movie. They definitely got the BB look right and I enjoyed what they did with the various gadgets and their inclusion in the action sequences. There is definitely enough here for huge fans of the characters to be happy about.

PROBLEMS : The hurdles I spoke of are attached to what I have been seeing in superhero movies as of late. Why do the writers feel the first 45 minutes must be filled with silly antics and comedy ? Most of it fell flat for me and I kept hoping it would pass quickly. A lot of it is just eye rolling and obnoxious. There were various plot holes throughout the movie.

Wonder if this showing affects how Gunn uses Beetle going forward. I know he is basically forced to do so because of this character being Latino, but this showing was bad bad. If he tries to shoehorn shit in just because, it's going to affect his universe in a bad way.

If Gunn had an idea for his own Latino character, they gave him an out. And keep this director far away from Gunn before he says dumb shit that turns fans off from any of Gunn's shit. It was not bad at all.

I rarely go to the theatre anymore so Blue Beetle better appreciate it. Because shockingly? The small theatres that had it? Were sold out.

They REALLY could have made this better with very few tweaks. It feels that Gunn saw this and either made bad post production notes OR had a blind spot because it has similar comedic sensibilities as his.

The curses were COMPLETELY unnecessary. One maybe two ok. But too many.

More Spanish speaking. These were some very good actors we completely understood anyway.

Lopez was good but turn it down a notch.

That costume was AMAZING period

Great effects money well spent there.

Great villain they should have kept him

Great family dynamic excellent I mean it was essentially Encanto but whatever.

But the actual families I spoke to in theatre (yeah for some reason it's mad easy for me to do that) and they all liked it. But it seems that DC past failures is what sunk this movie?

But many saw batman but they didn't consider it a real dc movie.

And blue beetle the character wasn't connected anymore and wouldn't be supported didn't feel a need to rush but heard good word of mouth.

They also seemed a little disappointed in Marvel movies but would still see them in theatres. Especially over DC.

Forgot all about this shit. Obviously, so did everyone else. $114 million WORLDWIDE. Swear if the character wasn't latino Gunn wouldn't even consider keeping him. I'm glad he is because I like the actor from Cobra Kai. Tell fans they ain't wanted and this the box office energy they will give studios.

Gunn probably has the hardest job in hollyweird right now. He did bring some of this pain on himself by announcing a reboot way too early.

Man I'd say 4 out of 10. Too many Mexican/Hispanic Stereotypes. That was uncalled for The Reach doesn't kill? You sure Scarab? Yall are conquerors and your enemy is The Green Lantern Corps! Dude, my son was falling asleep on the first half of this movie and the ending was fruity too. Had high hopes and was let down again. Aquaman will be good for me in this year. Gunn failed. Miserably.

Ted Kord being alive gave me hope for something in the future.

Really enjoyed the family dynamics and comedy, the villain was cool, the suit was perfect. Just wasted potential. Hopefully gunn Sticks to keeping blue beetle around like he said he would.

Like you said.... the family dynamic was Chef's kiss... Normally i hate when the movie has the family join in randomly and they come in saving the day..

but it felt so natural... they showed the family dynamic from jump... So when their Jamie got taken.... Of course they are going to go save him.

And I love how it just felt different... Like it was smart to use a practical suit and only use CGI for the CGI scenes but practical suit for most of the fighting and because you used an actor that's also a trained fighter.... those scenes felt legit.

My only complaint is that I prefer the male psychotic voice for the suit over the female voice.. but it works here.

I just hate that DC doesn't know what the fuck they are doing...


They have a golden opportunity...... to set up a Scrab or White martian invasion for their own Justice League level event and they just continue to leave house money on the floor.

This just needed a little more tweaking and decide if it's for family or teen or adult.
