Can The WNBA Be Improved Financially? Is this what you wanted.

I said this before.. they got those women on treadmill but telling them they're going on a trip. The WNBA very likely is supposed to operate at loss for tax shelter purposes.

It's not supposed to be profitable...30 years that leagues been around and it's still pretty much where it began??

Think about that

Yep just look at who runs that NBA. Says all you need to know about what you said. WNBA isn't really about women's empowerment. Shit is about tax loop holes.

Most make more staying in college and pursuing NIL deals.

The NBA brought in a little more than $10 billion in the 2022 season, while the WNBA brought in approximately $60 million. The generation of revenue is the simple reason for the salary disparity between the two leagues in the same sport.

As stated before, 21 players in the WNBA make $200,000 or more and the league's average salary for the upcoming season is $147,745.

If they had a Philly team, I'd go to a game. Why in the hell doesn't one of the biggest sports towns in the nation have a WNBA team?

History of women’s basketball in Philly

There have been three prior attempts to make pro women’s basketball a thing in Philadelphia.

In the late 1970s, the Women’s Professional Basketball League (WBL) had a team called the Philadelphia Fox. It didn’t even last a year, with money issues being a major culprit — the last-minute owner once said he financed operations using his own credit cards. The Fox were canceled in the middle of the 1979 season. The WBL shut down entirely two years later.

Next up was the Philadelphia Rage, who were part of the American Basketball League in the late ’90s.

The team, which featured future Hall of Famer and Philly native Dawn Staley, started out in Richmond, Virginia, and then moved north for two seasons. Signing Olympian Jackie Joyner-Kersee brought some attention, but it wasn’t enough, and in 1998 the entire ABL declared bankruptcy and ceased operations.

Part of the ABL’s problem was that the WNBA launched right around the same time. Since 1997, there have been 18 franchises, though only 12 teams are active: Atlanta, Chicago, Connecticut, Indiana, New York, and Washington in the east; Dallas, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minnesota, Phoenix, and Seattle in the west.

Two decades after the Rage’s demise, Philadelphia native Tamika Milburn decided to try again with a franchise in the Women’s Professional Basketball Association.

With a home base in Chestnut Hill, the Philadelphia Reign launched in 2019. The team barely had time to make headway before the pandemic arrived, and its current status is unclear. The entire league league is relatively new, with teams primarily located on the East Coast. The WPBA website does not appear active.

With all these people pretending to care about women's sports because of trans people, I'd expect all these games to be selling out.

You expected wrong because unfortunately for their cause, the WNBA has real women.

I was talking about all the outraged right wingers that suddenly care about women's athletics, but they're using it for outrage bait, and couldn't name three professional women athletes.

heres a question why dont men support womens sports??
I think you have to have a daughter or wife into the sport to really be interested enough to show up at games. I was watching the women's NCAA World Series and there were a lot of men there, but they were all friends and family. It seems like everyone likes women Olympians. Everyone was loving Simone Biles flying through the air like a damn bird, and seeing the USA and Jamaica track teams embarrass the rest of the world.

They do, when the product is good. Tennis and MMA for example. The better question is why don't women support woman's sports? Why are the Kardashians at NBA games? Why are female celebrities not influencing young girls to show up?
I already posted a theory about that...
you think women support the NBA (or any major league sports) because they care about Lebron James stats????

I would say that there are 4 categories/types of women who support men's sport.

THEY GENUINELY LIKE THE SPORT & ATHLETECISM - 30%

THEY MAINLY LIKE TO SEE WELL BUILT MEN IN FORM FITTING UNIFORMS SWEATING IT UP - 25%

A BONDING THING WITH THE MAN IN THEIR LIVES (she's watching and going to the games because YOU love it) - 40%

(ATTENDING GAMES) TO SEE AND BE SEEN (treating it like any happening in their town) - 10%

And mind you any packed stadium for any event is over 50% female attended much of the time.

out of 100 women supporting a sport what percentage do you think fits a category?

They don't do the same thing for women's basketball because the same motivators aren't there.

but your examples are more about the individuals who are popular not the sport. Serena is superstar in womens tennis...Ronda Rousey and Meisha Tate and various other individuals were the face of womens MMA once they go the luster of sport dims. Tom Brady retired...football as a sport is STILL the number one sport in the country because of the league not the individual superstar.

Why is womens NCAA the lesser version of the mens NCAA when there are rivalries and gamesmenship as much as the men???

thats the 3rd factor in my theory as to why women make up more than half of the support for mens sport..

Unless a person is specifically into gymnastics or track and field, they only give a shit about them every 4 years during the Olympics.

Because they generally don't want to watch a sport where the athletes aren't as good and the sport is not as fast\good.
That doesnt explain track and field or gymnastics or figure skating, Tennis or MMA

In all of these sports its clear that women arent as fast or good as the men doing the same thing. Serena will admit herself that she's not as fast or strong as the men...same for MMA...yet and still they stand head shoulders about everyone else in their sport.

So theres something else thats keeping men from supporting the female version of the sports they love.

The sports mentioned that are popular look like slower/weaker versions of the mens version, but they Ultimately do everything the men do. The WNBA doesn't look at all like NBA basketball, The woman can't dunk, they can barely shoot, they use a smaller ball, the game is played at a much much slower pace, it looks goofy.
You're looking for theories and conspiracies in something that's very clear, The WNBA is boring. The woman are off-putting with their complaining and demands, and It's especially off-putting when they're basically a charity league that wouldn't be able to operate without the chump change that the NBA throws at them to run their sorry league. The team names and logos suck, the advertising sucks, it's a poorly ran business top to bottom and there's no one to blame but women.
NCAA women's ball is popular because of built-in college rivalries and pride, not to mention the white savior Caitlin Clark.

Woman's MMA has more than just Rhonda, since her we've seen several divisions and champions rise to prominence, nothing as major as Rhonda but then again no man has hit the level of McGregor so even in that there's parity.

I don't know enough about woman's tennis but I know that before and after Serena the sport is still respected and treated as a legitimate sport with legitimate athletes. Basically, the WNBA sucks and all the reasons why are clear as day, no one wants to watch angry complaining lesbians slowly plod around a court missing shots and making lay ups. :giggle:

That delusional chick should be on some Don King shit every fucking day. Only in America could she be a millionaire.

WNBA just can't turn a profit. Simple as that. No big conspiracy. Product doesn't sell. It's still protect women's sports for women because they still can make money in sports. They can make money from popularity gained through sports.

It's just always been a fact in Sports business that men buy the majority of tickets where as in music its the opposite with women buying more so thats why all the big touring music acts whether male or female acts usually have large female fanbases.

There's literally only 2 Women's sports that has numerous athletes that are at multimillion per yr earnings level and thats Tennis and Golf. Soccer has 2 in Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe, Gymnastics has 2 in Simone Biles and Olivia Dunne. Then you have a bunch of sports with just 1

I said “Generally”, we’re speaking about WNBA basketball so that falls into the generally category.
