The sports mentioned that are popular look like slower/weaker versions of the mens version, but they Ultimately do everything the men do. The WNBA doesn't look at all like NBA basketball, The woman can't dunk, they can barely shoot, they use a smaller ball, the game is played at a much much slower pace, it looks goofy.
You're looking for theories and conspiracies in something that's very clear, The WNBA is boring. The woman are off-putting with their complaining and demands, and It's especially off-putting when they're basically a charity league that wouldn't be able to operate without the chump change that the NBA throws at them to run their sorry league. The team names and logos suck, the advertising sucks, it's a poorly ran business top to bottom and there's no one to blame but women.
NCAA women's ball is popular because of built-in college rivalries and pride, not to mention the white savior Caitlin Clark.

Woman's MMA has more than just Rhonda, since her we've seen several divisions and champions rise to prominence, nothing as major as Rhonda but then again no man has hit the level of McGregor so even in that there's parity.

I don't know enough about woman's tennis but I know that before and after Serena the sport is still respected and treated as a legitimate sport with legitimate athletes. Basically, the WNBA sucks and all the reasons why are clear as day, no one wants to watch angry complaining lesbians slowly plod around a court missing shots and making lay ups. :giggle:

I love the game of basketball and I love athletic women. I watch WNBA whenever I get a chance. Their skill level is actually really high.

I'd rather watch WNBA than golf, hockey, soccer (exception playoffs), baseball (exceptions playoffs), or UFC/MMA or college sports (exception playoffs, championships). I'd rather watch like NBA, NFL, Olympics, boxing & WNBA

The NBA has a long history & culture. In comparison WNBA may never catch up in that aspect. Marketing the WNBA like the NBA is not going to work. WNBA need to be on local TV not sports cable. They need to drop their bucket where they are and build grassroots following. Lowering rim is none issue. Some people will always look a female athletes as inferior to men no matter the entertainment. Even dressing skimpy did help when they tried it (Mercury). Agree that women need to support female basketball players more. Men should too b/c the game itself is sublime no matter who is playing.

lowering the basket requires everyone to retool their shooting mechanics. The league won't survive 2-3 years of everyone missing shots.

I previously listed why women dont support the league in the same way they do the NBA...

That's an issue men aren't the only ones who support the NBA...women fully support the league. The question is why....you think women support the NBA (or any major league sports) because they care about Lebron James stats????

I would say that there are 4 categories/types of women who support men's sport.

THEY GENUINELY LIKE THE SPORT & ATHLETECISM - 30%

THEY MAINLY LIKE TO SEE WELL BUILT MEN IN FORM FITTING UNIFORMS SWEATING IT UP - 25%

A BONDING THING WITH THE MAN IN THEIR LIVES (she's watching and going to the games because YOU love it) - 40%

(ATTENDING GAMES) TO SEE AND BE SEEN (treating it like any happening in their town) - 10%

And mind you any packed stadium for any event is over 50% female attended much of the time.

out of 100 women supporting a sport what percentage do you think fits a category?

They don't do the same thing for women's basketball because the same motivators aren't there.

And men don't support it because of basic gender bias.

Honestly...because of social/gender dynamics in society I dont think any female sport will be celebrated on the same level as mens sports.....not in the same way.

WNBA has a marketing issue. Granted, it was for 1 tourney, and really just from the sweet 16 onward. But the entire country damn near came together and watched the NCAA tourney. People will watch, and be entertained. I dont think the product is good enough on it own for people to watch a random ass regular season game. But a good marketing push could get people to watch the playoffs. The NBA just hasn't really pushed it since the Houston Comets were running shit in the mid 90s.

The NCAA Tournament was popular because of the white girl and her play. She’s already a great basketball player and people tuned in to watch her. Without her it wouldn’t have been nearly as popular. Half tuned in to watch her win and the other half tuned in to watch her lose.

Regarding WNBA marketing, I see commercials and advertisements for them all the time. They plaster notices of their games all the time on ESPN more than I’ve ever see.

WNBA players are in more nationally syndicated commercials than ever.

I’m not sure what marketing issue you’re speaking of but I don’t see it.

Those same stars go the the WNBA eventually, never to be heard from again. That white chick from Oregon a few years back that went to NY... Aint heard shit from here since she left college. Same thing will happen to Caitlin and Angel when they leave school. I dont know what the NCAA does to market individuals in women's basketball, but I atleast hear about them in school. But once they hit the league... The fuck they go??? Maybe it's tie in commercials with other college sports, I don't know. All I know is the stars in college go to the league and their popularity takes a dive. Maybe it's not marketing, but it's something.

You haven't heard of her

since she left college?

You know what you're right. On a national level we haven't heard much from her. She's very good, an All-Star and has good stats but the Liberty aren't champs yet so the shine is only so bright.

Everything else you said is correct. The difference between college and WNBA basketball is that colleges have built in fan support regardless of who's wearing the uniform.

The WNBA doesn't quite have that yet.

Regarding marketing college players, Kaitlin Clark's the female version of Steph Curry. People want to see her play because she's exciting. Without her this years NCAA tournament would've been just like the others.

I watch, but it wouldn't been on the national news radar.

And you're right, once players graduate nobody cares about them or follows them anymore.

Not sure if I agree with this.

I think the biggest thing is there is a separation between how the WNBA markets white players versus black.A'ja Wilson doesn't get Brianna Stewart or Diana Taurasi attention.

Bruh, I didn't even know Diana Taurasi was still in the WNBA.
