Knew it wasn't going to live up to the first one. The sequel had too many cameos and the storyline was ass.

I didn’t mind the cameos at all there’s nothing wrong with a little nostalgia but I didn’t like the storyline at all.

Yeah the storyline was trash.
It was just so condescending and almost coonish the way Leslie Jones character was acting. The son was alright, but they tried to make him too hip and it came off super condescending, thoughtless, and corny!
The funniest scene was when the son went for the interview. Colin Jost was funny in this scene.

Nah I won't go that far although I understand....I am watching it today...I never expected a repeat of the classic original but I expect reasonably funny....the reviews have me worried but when it comes to comedy, you gotta see for yourself
I watched the original last night and I really enjoyed it. It holds up and is truly a classic. I felt part 2 was more of a remake/remix than a sequel. It's the type of thing that you type lol but not actually laugh out loud. I fell asleep mid way through it and I don't have the urge to see the scenes that I missed. Hopefully people watch and judge for themselves before reading reviews. I don't expect many good reviews for this movie.

That's the problem....you are HEARING. Go watch it. Shit was crispy as fuck in 4k on Prime. And the special effects weren't bad at all for a comedy. The palace, African background, and costume design were actually dope. Sounds like people complaining just to be complaining because it wasn't the first one. Only thing that annoyed me was all the damn singing. Its a modern day continuation of the first one

Even after reading y’all’s reviews, it’s what I expect it to be. Y’all have to understand that the first one is an all-time comedy. Probably top 5 all time and definitely top 3 Black comedy (arguably the best).
It would be a monumental achievement to reproduce anything close to the original. Very few sequels can live up to the expectations of the first. The sequel is strictly for fans and nostalgia purposes, so if it’s bad then it is what it is.

It's wack bruh, if Eddie wasn't attached you'd think differently. Eddie has folks apprehensive to give a real critique. The costumes were dope, especially Eddie's robe and that he's feeding others that's it.

Its a lazy ass sequel. As most are. But none of them take 30 years off and to come back 30 years for this shit is wild....
Somebody needs to re-do this shit and forget this ever happened. Let somebody do a Snydercut.....let Spike Lee or Coogler get a re-do.

Movie still would've been trash but had they switched Rotimi and Jermaine Fowler's characters...it would've been better casted and would've made up for the shitty writing those characters had. Very odd to have Rotimi play the comedy relief character and have Fowler's be a more serious tone. That was a waste.
Man. That was a disappointment If you judge it purely as a sequel to the first film, you can say it hit all the notes in terms of what happened to all the characters, but as a film it was BAD. Like I don't know how all these people with all this experience in Hollywood could produce a film with this many flaws. I'm not talking about technical flaws. The costumes, choreography, cinematography and overall production value were top notch, but the story, plot, dialog and editing were just BAD. And as so many others have mentioned a lot of celebrity cameos that added no value.
If they actually re-shot and edited this because of a bad reception on test screenings, I can't even begin to imagine how bad the original cut was.

I'm seriously trying to figure out how gone tell me how I feel about the movie? Its was aight. Niggas talking bout its super horrible...it aint. All I suggest is that people watch them make their own opinion. Fuck the BGOL review board.
Dude this movie was fuckin' awful!!! It was super lazy writing. This movie could have been legend, but instead it goes down as one of the worst movies I've seen.
Normally I'd agree but BGOL right about this one. This shit trash. It pains me to agree with BGOL on it but shit......its almost like the actors themselves even knew it was trash its like they were winking at the camera like "You know this shit trash right?"
Aight I done seen far worse......but it was bad. No way around that. Its not even subjective thing. This movie was bad if you factor in the story and script. No character development. No nothing.
The sequel's plot and storyline wasnt as good as the original. But I liked the sequel for what it is: a pure comedy. I thought tge sequel was overall funnier than the original. I liked it.

Everyone has their opinion, I do agree that everyone should watch it to get their own opinion. Unfortunately many who haven’t watched yet are already told it’s bad and that will be on their minds before they even watch it. Which is bad.
I didn’t think it was horrible, but I didn’t think it was good. Put it this way, there was way more that I didn’t like than I did like about the movie.

You know what? That's a perfect way to describe it. Its to celebrate Coming 2 America. Because that was the only thing good about it. Bringing in old characters and seeing them in 2021 was cool. Wish they could've found a way to sneak Sam L in there somehow.
I honestly don't even remember how many he had. I was speaking more so about the scene where his characters introduced to Joffer. He wasn't terrible just seemed like more of a role for Fowler.
It was cool. It didn't have the cinematic feel, which is cause of the pandemic. it felt like some made for streaming which does the original injustice, but it had a positive message to it and I'm glad they aint throw no gay agenda nonsense in there.
The story line was weak at best. Utilizing comedians who are several steps below you doesn't help either. I won't go into detail because I don't want to spoil it for folks who are really interested but I'd give it a 4 out of 10.
I had no problem with it living off of the original, that’s the story of the movie.
