This, 1000%. Intelligence tends to be an unspoken anathema to authenticity amongst certain insecure demographics. Folks get mad at other people who interpret their world a little more critically than they do. This is also why certain black folks never get tired of the endless, low-budget hood stories on Tubi and whatever bullshit Zeus or BET want to come up with. Comfort in the profane masks the insecurity of being on the outside of a conversation. Shit, this is also why intelligent black kids in impoverished schools downplay their intelligence or risk ostracization/getting clowned for... acting white.I said this about Aries Spears back in 2016:

Niggas who do that can’t fight. In high school me and a group of friends cut class one day and went over to Philly to hang out at the Gallery Mall. Some Philly niggas started talking shit to us.
