In 2010, the actor claimed he was fired three days into filming the ABC series "Scoundrels" because he wouldn't agree to on-screen sex scenes. While the show only ran for one season, the 56-year-old said he was blacklisted from the industry.
"There was a time when I wasn’t working," the 56-year-old told Fox News Digital. "I couldn’t get a job because people thought I was this crazy religious guy. But that wasn’t the case. I love my wife, but I love my acting too. I was hopeful that, at some point, someone would give me a chance again."
The devout Catholic’s clause wasn’t new. From 2008 to 2009, McDonough starred in "Desperate Housewives" where he played Nicolette Sheridan’s husband. McDonough had a no-kissing rule that prompted the show’s creator, Marc Cherry, to get creative with his writing. McDonough, who married his wife Ruvé in 2003, has said, "I won’t kiss any other woman because these lips are meant for one woman."

But after reportedly getting the boot from "Scoundrels," McDonough experienced "a hard few years" trying to find work while staying faithful to his religious beliefs.
"I remember falling to my knees and saying, ‘God, why have you forgotten about me? Why am I being punished so much?’ McDonough recalled. "And as soon as those words came out of my mouth, I realized what self-absorbed questions those were. God has given me so much. We all experience challenges in our lives. I should be grateful – and thankful – for all the blessings I’m given."

That’s when McDonough said Graham Yost called. The star and the screenwriter had previously worked together on "Band of Brothers" in 2001.
"I remember, a few minutes later, I was sitting there at the kitchen table with Ruvé," he said. "Graham called and said, ‘Hey, you want to play the villain in the first episode or two of ‘Justified?’ I said, ‘Yes, yes I do.’ And after the first take, he came up to me and said, ‘You want to play the villain for the whole year?’ I joked, ‘Didn’t you know that was my game plan? That’s what I’m going to do.’
"And after ‘Justified,’ everything was kind of forgotten. I was determined to give a really great performance and I did. And, you know, I realized that perhaps I was taking some of my acting for granted. I was working all the time, but perhaps I wasn’t dialed in enough in terms of what I could really do as an actor."

"I came out of it on the other side," McDonough continued. "I’ve been working so much in the last several years, and I couldn’t be more thankful. I thank God every day for all the blessings I’m given, even during challenging times. Everyone always says, ‘Why do you work so much?’ My response is always, ‘They keep asking me, so I’m not going to stop.’"
McDonough said his career has only flourished since "Justified" in 2012. The proud father of five said he couldn’t be more grateful for being given a second chance on his terms.
"God gave me this gift of being an actor, and I’m not going to waste it," he said. "I’m now in a position to produce movies with my wife. I’m able to co-create projects. And I get to continue pursuing my craft. I couldn’t be in a better place in my career. Every step I’ve had along the way, every challenge I’ve faced, has built this moment. And this is a moment I’m really cherishing. I’m proud of my work and what I can accomplish."
McDonough is starring in "Boon," the action-packed sequel to "Red Stone" where his character Nick Boon must protect everything he stands for.
And this time, McDonough gets to play a good guy.
"It’s been amazing," he chuckled. "I’ve never had the opportunity to really play this kind of character before. And there’s a kind of romance on screen with my co-star. She understood exactly who I was and what I wouldn’t do. I put that out there. And it’s shocking how many people don’t want to do that kind of stuff anyway. So once you put that out there, everyone’s much more comfortable.
"It was truly wonderful working with a cast like this," he added. "I felt at ease. And this movie is a journey about a guy running away from his past, but the past will always catch up to you. How do you deal with it when it finally catches up to you? What are you prepared to do? How are you willing to stand up for what is right?"
While McDonough is known these days for playing villains on screen, he doesn’t mind flipping the script, when done right.

"The good guys are so dark and brooding now," he said. "They’re really tortured, which makes the villain much bigger, crazier and more horrible. Nick Boon isn’t given a superpower. It’s just faith. And to me, that’s the greatest superpower anyone can have. If you have faith, you can get through anything. I love these types of characters, these almost ‘70s types of heroes where they have baggage, but at the end of the day, they’re going to figure out how to get the job done.
"I’ve always loved Westerns and neo-Western films that explore this theme. Those haven’t really been done in the last several years, but I feel like they’re finally coming back now. I couldn’t be happier. It gives us new opportunities to make these types of films.
"I played the lead, which is a big-time commitment," McDonough shared. "But I infused a lot of me into the character. He has his rosary beads. It explores faith in a unique way, and this time around I play a good guy. And on set, we also created a family atmosphere. We made this film with such pride. That was the goal."
Today, McDonough continues to keep busy taking on new roles and projects. And throughout his decades-long career, there’s one star he’s admired over the years.

"I remember we were doing ‘Band of Brothers,’" he explained. "We were about five days into filming. We experienced this grueling boot camp where we were getting beat up. This guy comes in from a helicopter. He had a long beard and long hair. It was Tom Hanks with his ‘Castaway’ beard and hair.
"You hadn’t seen him in several months. But he steps out and does this speech explaining why we owe it to all these men and women who died for us. How World War II allowed us to have the freedoms we have today. How it is our job to never give up and try our very best. How we much give 100% of ourselves for the next 10 months to ensure we honor the men and women who died for us."

"He was so emotional, and it meant the world to him," he continued. "Then he got back on the helicopter to go back to whatever island he was on shooting ‘Castaway.’ To be around a guy like Tom Hanks, you can’t help but be a better artist. Tom’s an artist, but he’s also a family man. He understands the position that he’s in and loves his life … He takes pride in his work. Tom lives in the light. We should all be more like Tom Hanks."
Back in 2020, McDonough spoke to Fox News Digital about the few things he refuses to do in Hollywood.

"I won’t mention the Lord’s name in vain, and then I won’t kiss another woman," McDonough said at the time. "Sex scenes aren’t in it for me. And I think, gosh, there’s enough sex scenes out there, and me being in my 50s, I’m not sure if anyone wants to see me doing that stuff anyway, but it’s a comfort level."
"I’m not very comfortable doing that," the actor continued. "And I guess that’s probably why I play so many villainous characters, because I love acting, and I’m really good at it. It’s a God-given talent, so for me to have a career, I have to figure out creatively and smartly and wisely how I can keep doing what I do."

"I won’t mention the Lord’s name in vain, and then I won’t kiss another woman," McDonough said at the time. "Sex scenes aren’t in it for me. And I think, gosh, there’s enough sex scenes out there, and me being in my 50s, I’m not sure if anyone wants to see me doing that stuff anyway, but it’s a comfort level."
"I’m not very comfortable doing that," the actor continued. "And I guess that’s probably why I play so many villainous characters, because I love acting, and I’m really good at it. It’s a God-given talent, so for me to have a career, I have to figure out creatively and smartly and wisely how I can keep doing what I do."
I listened to him on Michael Rosenbaums podcast and he's a bit like Kirk Cameron. No love scenes with other women,not even kissing and i swear he said My lovely wife about 20 times.

as for the tv show he signed up for, he had no clue he was supposed to do a sex scene at some point? Did he come on set one day and the director was like, me and the producer decided to we are going to turn this into a sex scene all of a sudden?
Seems like this would have been discussed well in advance,and he would have had chance to bounce well before 3 days into his shoot.

The Flash Boss Talks Legends Of Tomorrow In Season 9 And Justice League Plans For Scrapped Blackest Night Story

What’s coming up for The Flash, and what could have been.
Debuting in September 2014, a little less than a year after Grant Gustin debuted as Barry Allen in Arrow Season 2, The Flash is about to enter its ninth and final season. The longest-running (pun slightly intended) of the Arrowverse shows will wrap things up with 13 episodes, and there have already been plenty of big casting announcements for this last hurrah. The Flash showrunner Eric Wallace has now revealed that the Legends of Tomorrow will also be involved in Season 9, as well as some Justice League plans he’d formulated for a Blackest Night storyline that ended up being scrapped.
Starting with the Legends of Tomorrow, Arrowverse fans will remember that the show following the Waverider’s crew was cancelled last year after seven seasons, resulting in the show ending with a cliffhanger that introduced Donald Faison as Booster Gold. The good news is that Eric Wallace shared with The Nerds of Color that “all the Legends at least are all going to appear in an episode” of The Flash Season 9. The bad news is that Wallace and the The Flash’s team had to toss aside plans to give Legends of Tomorrow a proper conclusion in Season 9. In his words:

As indicated earlier, a lot of familiar Arrowverse faces will be back, including Stephen Amell reprising Oliver Queen/Green Arrow for the first time since Arrow ended, as well as the recent additions of Rick Cosnett, Matt Letscher and Jessica Parker Kennedy. Season 9 also sees the debut of Richard Harmon’s Owen Mercer, a.k.a. the new Captain Boomerang, and the tease of a blue crystal sitting in a laboratory in 2049 strongly suggests the show is bringing in Cobalt Blue, though that has yet to be confirmed.
The Flash Season 9 premieres tomorrow, February 8, at 8 pm ET on The CW. Keep track of what other shows are currently airing or coming up soon with our 2023 TV schedule, and look over what other upcoming DC TV shows are lined up.

Because this Arrow storyline had to be scrapped since The Flash’s final season already had enough on its plate, it’s unclear if when these time-traveling characters appear, we’ll be seeing them at a point before they were arrested by the Time Police, or if this takes place afterwards and there just won’t be any explanation for how they’re free. Either way, at least Legends of Tomorrow fans will get to reunite with these protagonists one final time rather than have the Legends Season 7 finale be their swan song. Eric Wallace added that because The Flash writers are still putting together the series finale, “you never know what could happen at the very end.” Maybe there might still be a way to give the Legends some much-needed resolution, even if it’s solely through dialogue.

The final minutes of Arrow’s series finale saw David Ramsey’s John Diggle discovering a box that’d crash-landed on Earth emitting a mysterious green glow. For a couple years afterwards, Diggle surfaced on shows like Supergirl and Batwoman in the midst of trying to get the box reopened, which he finally accomplished in The Flash Season 8’s “The Man in the Yellow Tie” with the help of Eobard Thawne. However, Diggle resisted accepting the cosmic power within the box, instead throwing it away in favor of returning to his family. Had The Flash Season 10 happened, that Blackest Night tease would have been fully fleshed out, though it’s unclear if Team Flash dealing with an undead horde would have happened at the same time as Barry teaming up with his Justice League cohorts to deal with the return of Despero, the main antagonist in Season 8’s “Armageddon” arc, or occurred at a different point.

We’ve long known there’s been some animosity brewing between Noah Cyrus and her mom, Tish. On her mother’s wedding day last year at Miley’s Malibu pad, Noah thought it best to spend the day perusing her local Walmart with brother Braison wearing a shirt with her dad (and Tish’s ex) Billy Ray’s face on it. That’s petty, on the surface, but with the added context we got this week, well, Noah may have mommy issues for good reason. One source told Us Weekly that the row began when Tish stole new husband Dominic Purcell from her younger daughter.
On March 1, People reported that Noah was “offended” by Tish’s marriage to Purcell because Noah and Purcell had been together “in a friends with benefits way, off and on.” According to People’s source, when they stopped seeing each other,” Tish “started something up.” The source claims that Tish knew about Noah’s prior relationship, but never gave her daughter the chance to talk about the situation before the wedding.
However, ET also reported on March 1 that the bad blood between Noah and Tish is “exaggerated,” though the source didn’t deny that Purcell is a common denominator. “Noah and Tish haven’t been close since Tish started dating Dominic,” the source said. “It’s also been an adjustment for Noah in general for her parents to be divorced.” Corroborating earlier claims that Noah was excluded from the wedding guest list, the source told ET, “Tish didn’t invite Noah to her wedding because she thought it would cause a scene and drama.” At the time of the wedding in August 2023, sources maintained that there was “no family drama” surrounding the event, only that Noah and Braison’s schedules didn’t allow them to attend.
Previous reports painted a far more grim picture of the relationship. “Noah and Tish haven’t spoken since the whole thing happened with Dominic,” an insider claimed on February 29, per Us Weekly. “Tish is spiraling out of control and trying to figure out how to [defuse] this.” The source added that Tish is interviewing crisis management. Noah and Purcell’s situationship lasted “about 8 to 9 months,” the source said.
