He won't have the flexibility to cut 50 players off his squad again as he did last year (plus the 25 average recruits that he brought in). Teams have an 85 player scholarship limit per year. The NCAA enacted a 1 time transfer availability rule which will limit player movement. Recruiting is and always will be the life blood of college football. He won't be able to compete with the elite programs (top 20 types) simply relying on the transfer portal. Shedeur wasn't your typical HBCU player, he was a 4 star recruited by UGA and other top P5 squads.

He won't need to cut 50 players. Most of the starters are coming back. Next year he is filling needs of an established team rather than rebuilding a whole new team from the QB to the Kicker.

Transfers are a much more powerful tool to build a team than recruiting. Most High School recruits won't start in their first year at a top D1 program. Many don't meet expectations either. A Transfer already has a body of work at the D1 college level that can be evaluated. It is not just bench warmers that are looking to transfer either. The top 5 QBs in NCAA Division 1 football this year were Transfers. Next year it might be the top 5 RBs or WRs. The year after that, a Top 5 QB, RB and WR might transfer to the same team. The best AAU and High School Basketball teams aren't made up of players that played together for 4 years. Most have multiple starters that transfered from other teams/schools.

Remember, the measuring stick shouldn't be that Colorado is the Georgia Bulldogs next year or even the year after. There were arguments about whether Colorado would win 3 games all of THIS season before the season started. The improvement this year has already far exceeded expectations.

You are comparing 6 games against 3 ranked opponents to a whole college football season. Did Colorado play 3 nationally ranked teams last season? What were their defensive statistics from those 3 games?
Unfortunately, Nebraska, Colorado st and Arizona st were very poor offenses statistically and the Buffs still gave up a ton of yards.

Kind why i been saying this could be more the DC and scheme than talent.

You like this group of players? Most i don’t think belong at a big time program. I would say they definitely need a year in the weight room as they are tiny.

Have not seen a team that tiny in years.

You see them tv ratings Colorado bringing in. That's gonna be recruiting tool #1.

If you a DAWG, you finna be SEEN next season at Colorado. I'm talking Scouts, advertisers, NIL deals, sponsors, you name it.

Best believe Deion gonna have his pick of ballers looking to come to Colorado.

He even said after the TCU game players were calling him.

Colorado will be a top 10 team in 2-3 yrs, mark my words (If Deion remains at Colorado of course).

Shedeur Sanders' signature watch flex becoming a cultural symbol

Matt Wadleigh

The hype around the Colorado Buffaloes football team is still as big as ever following Saturday’s win over Arizona State. Plus, the dominance of quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been captivating across the country.
After a thrilling victory over the Sun Devils, Sanders went to the Arizona State student section and did his signature watch celebration. As it turns out, “The Shedeur” has caught on in both the NBA and NFL with players such as Davante Adams, Chet Holmgren and Breece Hall partaking in the celebration. DJ Khaled also shared his best impression. too.

Here are a few clips and quotes discussing “The Shedeur,” a celebration that is quickly going viral:

That’s what me and @SWATLANTA been discussing. Currently recruits have been opting to go other places beside Colorado.

If you go to a major program you will get seen as everyone plays on TV. So that will never be a selling point for recruits.

As far is NIL, Colorado will need to step up their game to compete with some of the big programs. They have not talked much about NIL so I am not sure how they will go about it. But I am sure they working on it.

We were discussing why Colorado has such few commitments. One theory was maybe Prime is trying to use his celebrity to recruit “I ain’t hard to fine” while other schools have more resources on the ground in the recruits ear every day

Alejandro Mata grateful for close relationship with Coach Prime

Jack Carlough
USATSI_21379180.jpg

Based on how Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders speaks about him, you’d think that Alejandro Mata was another one of his sons.
The two developed a close relationship together while at Jackson State built on trust, mentorship and a good deal of laughs, so when Sanders came to Boulder last winter, Mata wasn’t far behind.

“He’s probably one of the best coaches I’ve ever had, if not the best coach I’ve ever had,” Mata said of Sanders. “Knowing that I have his confidence to bring me here, I was like, ‘Holy crap, I must really be good.’ Coming here, following him is definitely good for the mind.”
Mata’s biggest moment in a Buffs uniform so far came on Saturday at Arizona State when the sophomore placekicker nailed a go-ahead 43-yard field goal with 38 seconds remaining. The clutch boot even helped Mata earn the Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week award.
“Why do you think I brought him here? Mata don’t miss,” Sanders said following the 27-24 win.
While Sanders has confidence in his kicker’s on-field abilities, Mata shared that he trusts Coach Prime as a mentor in his life outside of football.
“He’s always giving me life lessons and stuff,” Mata said. “If anytime I need some sort of help with life or with some decision that I have to make that’s tough, I’m always going to him just to make sure I’m making the right decision about it. It’s always great having him as a mentor.”

Shedeur Sanders, Colorado Lead College Football In One Stat

Author:

Joe VitaleOct 9, 2023
Despite the hype surrounding the Colorado Buffaloes slowed down a bit after suffering back-to-back losses in September, quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been a pleasure to watch for college football fans this season.

Sanders threw for 239 yards in Week 6 as the Buffs got back on track with a 27-24 win over Arizona State.

With the Washington Huskies, led by star quarterback Michael Penix Jr., having the week off, Sanders' 239 yards was enough to make him the leading passer in college football as we enter Week 7.

Sanders now has 2,020 passing yards this season, ranking just ahead of Penix Jr, who has 1,999 yards despite playing one less game. Additionally, his 16 passing touchdowns ranks tied with Penix Jr, and a few others, for third in the nation.

Here's a look at college football's top-ten passing leaders as we enter Week 7:

Shedeur Sanders, Colorado: 2,020 yards, 16 TDs, 2 INTs
Michael Penix Jr, Washington: 1,999 yards, 16 TDs, 2 INTs
Jayden Daniels, LSU: 1,969 yards, 19 TDs, 2 INTs
Carson Beck, Georgia, 1,886 yards, 11 TDs, 3 INTs
Brady Cook, Missouri: 1,879 yards, 13 TDs, 2 INTs
Dillon Gabriel, Oklahoma: 1,878 yards, 16 TDs, 2 INTs
J.T. Daniels, Rice: 1,831 yards, 15 TDs, 5 INTs
Caleb Williams, USC: 1,822 yards, 22 TDs, 1 INT
Jacob Zeno, UAB: 1,795 yards, 12 TDs, 5 INTs
E.J. Warner, Temple: 1,741 yards, 12 TDs, 5 INTs
Sanders is averaging 7.9 yards per attempt this season. Out of the top-ten passers, only two are averaging less. But in Sanders' defense, he has no choice but to get the ball out quickly, as Colorado's allowed the second most sacks in the nation, 31, through the first six games of the season, making Sanders' stats even more impressive.

Sanders has been sacked 30 times this year. The next closest to him in the top-ten above would be Daniels from LSU, who's been sacked 14 times.

this should be on the giant display screen. In the Buffs meeting room... and they should be made to look at it for the duration time of the next meeting. Deion shouldn't even say anything.. he should say "don't look at me....look at that dern screen...I wanna see everyone reading it....then read it again."

Yep

Even Sean Lewis, some of the play calls have Shedeur getting hit when he don’t even suppose to…

Dude got hit so fast by 3 defenders on one play…. I was like that personnel ain’t ready for that play…
