Losing Ibaka, after you pushed GS to the brink of elimination may have been the wedge.
^^ I agree.
I think it was BOTH trading Ibaka.... and.... Russell (shoot first) Westbrook were the main reasons he left.
I said in the other NBA thread.... that OKC did not NEED to trade Ibaka... instead, all they needed was to pick up a RELIABLE (catch-n-shoot) 'spot up' 2 guard.. like a Kyle Korver, or Bradley Beal, or Danny Green type of player... who Durant or Westbrook could kick-out passes to... when they get double-teamed.
Having ONE
'knockdown shooter' is what OKC was missing from playing in the Finals, imo.
Oladipo is not a 'consistent' long-range shooter.
He gets (most of) his points from slashing to the bucket & occasionally hitting jumpers.
So the 'floor spacing' was gonna be terrible..... because Durant, Westbrook & Oladipo all take the same
'types' of shots while driving to the bucket.
Which means they would have to
'take turns' driving the lane.... while staying out of each others way.... in order to score.
Durant is gonna be good on GSW.
Because he can kill folks
'off the dribble' & kick it out to DEADLY (spot-up) jump shooters like Klay & Steph.... whenever he gets double-teamed.
