I will agree with you on this one... there's so much torque on my Lightning, you will burn through rubber quicker if you're heavy footed. If you drive civil, they'd probably wear like any other vehicle.

I've had my Lightning for 21 months. I've put 25,400 miles on it in that time. I've drove across the country twice and countless other trips. The only maintenance I've had to do is rotate my tires, and put windshield washer fluid in the bottle. I've had ZERO issues with my truck!

It's just like another Lightning owner said the other day...

"No more gas powered cars for me. They‘re like going back into the Stone Age……noise, vibration, heat, fumes, rev-ing, shifting, drive train slack, brake dust, oil changes, tune ups and gas pumps. NO Thanks!"
Thanks for the info

insurance more expensive for electric vehicles?
Insurance for an electric car may cost more than insurance for a regular gas-powered car. An electric car's higher price tag and more complex equipment means it may cost more to repair or replace if it's in an accident. That can mean higher rates for policyholders who carry comprehensive and collision coverage

Electric vehicles tend to wear out tires more quickly compared to similar gasoline cars. Although about a 20% reduction in longevity is often cited, wear for EV tires varies by vehicle and can be worse on performance-oriented models that are fitted with softer tires for better grip.

Insurance will come down with time. Remember around 10 years ago when Ford went to an aluminum body and everyone was so sure it was going to affect insurance rates because of the added expense for repairs? Turned out, not so much. Cars in general are getting more expensive to insure because of the technology in them, electric or not.

And as mentioned, the reason why some people go through tires quickly is because of the torque, and they don't want to ease in on the pedal. You don't have to get special tires for EVs. They can help with efficiency but it's not a drastic difference, around 10% on average. Just get the tire that is rated for the weight of your car.

We both know that’s not the sole reason behind its ban in the US. If the price were set at $ 40,000, the vehicle would be allowed to be sold here. However, with a price of $ 9,000, subsidized by the Chinese government, there’s no way in hell it would be allowed to be sold here.

This actually doesn't make sense when you consider logistics and the fact that BYD isnt even in the US market.

Exactly, HEAVILY subsidized by the Chinese government...... AND the vehicles data is heavily monitored by the Chinese government as well

There are concerns that the government can access any device that you connect to BYDs vehicles.

There are so many different logistical, technological, and financial factors that would have to be worked out for BYD to be a real threat in the US market......

and truthfully China has like 3 - 4X the population as the US..... they don't need us all like that.

i wonder if he gonna replace that stuff with tesla stuff.

Might as well, we already subsidize and give Tesla $Billions...... might as well force government employees to pay them more money directly....... this is fucking ridiculous.

If Pres Obama did 1/4 of the shit Drumpf has done, there would be Tiki Torch Marches, hung/burnt effigies and tough Political talk on far right channels.... ..

Hell a mfkr said "you lie" to him during a televised address to the nation when he discussed his plan that eventually became the ACA.

The problem with EVs is that it’s people who don’t even own homes buying them… The whole purpose is to charge them shits at home..

It’s a scene straight out of a dystopian version of National Geographic. In the frozen urban wilderness of Montreal, a rare sighting occurs. Behold the Tesla Cybertruck, a creature of angular design and stainless steel armor, touted as the apex predator of modern roadways.
Featured Video

Yet it’s nearly immobilized, ensnared by the unyielding grasp of Canadian snow. Its wheels spin futilely, a reminder that even mighty machines can be humbled by nature.
So much delicious schadenfreude is being wrung from a one-minute TikTok clip from creator Tareq (@tareq2022khan). So far more than 6 million viewers have watched the Cybertruck fail in some combination of fascination and glee.
And, credit where it’s due, a lot of the humor in the clip comes from the pitch-perfect use of weatherman extraordinaire Nick Kosir’s “Issa Snow Day” parody of 50 Cent’s classic “In Da Club. There’s also the laughs from a comparatively less-boastful Honda Fit zooming by the stuck truck with comparative ease.

Last weekend, we went on a 197 mile trip to PA in my electric F-150 and I calculated the electricity that I used was less than 7 dollars.

This joint is literally paying for itself.
